Thargoid invasion - Next target systems?

TITAN OYA DEPLOYS A SURPRISE FLEET OF ORTHRUS VESSELS

Will it just be better for EVERY SINGLE CMDR to go for Oya???????
Instead of more weeks of taking systems?
Just Wondering! - already taken out 13% of first heart - - - - - - what about a concerted effort over the weekend to see how many hearts are taken out in 1/2 a week?

EDIT - was gonna take a rest, but now rushing back to give more damage to the Oya!

EDIT 2 it is hard in solo with renewed aggression at titan, but how is it in open?

Well... there we are. Think, primarily I'm just sad they only namechecked two out of how many freakin groups, squadrons and commanders who'd been working on this all month, who'd effectively solo'd entire weeks of this push, who held the line all year.
Yes, now they should name all 104910419 groups, and 1049101 solo players without their squadron 🤷‍♂️

Sometimes I really cannot understand issues of some people. Even as member of squadron which do a lot of AX since start of war.

Attacking Oya directly this week is almost certainly the best option:
- without any knowledge of how often a Titan can do this, or under what circumstances, it's possible that it will never be this weak again, because this will keep happening
- certainly it won't be this weak again for at least a few weeks
- looking at the Alerts it's placed, they basically fall into two categories: not practical to win as Alerts anyway ; possible to defeat as Alerts but nothing is particularly lost if they're taken out as Controls next week either, which will be easier.
- in the event that Oya was destroyed this week that should cancel all the Alerts anyway (and even if not, a dead Titan's systems can be picked off without urgency)

Right now, that seems to be everyone’s idea, yeah. The far outer alerts are not difficult to clear up even for a single player(as you can see above), but those that are at the inner core(10 ly and below)?

Those are just not going to be cleared because the effort vs reward balance is totally lopsided. At least without a spire being able to support that periphery clearance due to the far out systems.

And I would like to think Titans can’t do this every time they drop below 10 controls(assuming that it is the relevant threshold), even if only from a gameplay standpoint. There should at least be some kind of cooldown to that sort of ‘ability’, for lack of a better word.

But if one Titan can why wouldn’t the others. I’m curious if anything would happen at the outer alert systems if they were captured/allowed to go through, or they’d just act like regular Thargoid systems. Given the ease of clearing them, if they were just regular controls, it’d do little harm in the short term other than to a potential second week of a Titan assault.

The plan is a concerted effort to destroy the entire Titan this week, with time to spare. That rate is rising, we have yet to hit the most active time today—let alone the most active times this week—and we have seen from the previous two peripheral progress victories that Commanders are capable of much!

...In short, I'm the coordinator for AXI who'd been posting the defense targets half the time, most of the time since the end of February.

I was okay with no-one getting credit full stop as just an amorphous 'AX forces!' blob.

Getting credit while other major squadrons who over the war have spent Thousands of man hours, billions of credits, lent carriers en-masse to the cause time and again - including doing the lion's share of work for Oya both from the start and for the current push, some of whom are the reason we even found out sampling works/got the numbers to use it properly are left unsung... just, feels fundamentally wrong to me.

It just goes to show how much Frontier Developments are out of touch with the community. Its not like the most Senior person running Elite did not know there would be an official article going out discussing, "things".

So what I’ve gathered from reading the thread today is

Last week everyone worked their butts off because they thought the boss was going on holiday and it looked like they could take it easy for the next week or so, only to come in today to find the boss has left a HUGE list of ‘shizzle to do while I’m off’ and now everyone’s got more work than they know what to do with.

Will try hunting in the next system to see if the value of de-Orthrusing has changed, or if it's fluff and harvesting samples still stands alone
I only managed to bag 2 Orthrus (shouldn't have tried a new ship) with the first getting away with 2% and running out of class 2 missiles for the 4th with 6% remaining)

Anyway figures barring any calculation errors suggest Orthrus are better than research limpets on a 1 for 1 basis. However, you can get 100 research samples easier than 4 Orthrus kills let alone 100 kills so there really is no comparison (still)

More that a plan that had been worked out, negotiated, scheduled and groundwork prepared, just got thrown out of the window leaving only a single meaningful option.
Some are adapting to the change in circumstances better than others.

I got to over 2 million in OPEN at Oya. Which matches my early runs on Taranis and leilong.

That said. At the end of titan Leilong I was able to hit over 6 million credits on some runs

1.9 million in solo for me, with a Titan Bomber Krait & only 5 blue vents.. very much resembles Taranis in its early stage IIRC👍 if it only didn’t get boring so fast… spire farming with a plasmaconda in private group mode and invasions are so much more fun 🥳 and far more rewarding in terms of CR ! Maybe better just leave Oya alone 😅?

NO! - GO GO GO and see what happens (we have until Thursday BTW)

EDIT - each visit today was different for me, some visits never spotted by them, some, all hell breaks loose and have to run for it and repair, totally immersive game play.
<Going out for a break, beer and food - when I return I want to see 1 heart almost completed!!!!>

Plenty of spires to farm at right now anyway, at other Titans. Removing Oya from the picture won’t change that.

… and please tell me how the more dangerous Titan environment(if Thargoid AI isn’t derping out and scanning open spots of deep space) is more “boring” than slaughtering hapless Thargoid transport craft which have literally no weapons, move at a snail’s pace and fire off an anti-Guardian field alongside their single EMP? (This is at least partly a genuine question… I cannot for the life of me understand how slaughtering a practically defenseless opponent over and over and over is considered fun after the first few times.)

Group coordination to minimize the anti guardian fields can be quite a bit of fun 😃! And there are lots of scouts around, busily firing, and also Cyclopses! And before you can properly start, you have to deal with the thargoid ground forces somehow, on the ground or air-to-ground .. and the atmosphere and graphics at spire sites are great. At least for me this is a quite good mixture!

You are right, the Titan environment is more dangerous, but once you have arrived there, the game mechanic can be a bit more cumbersome at least in solo mode, to only repetitively run the vent circle and then engage the core, nothing else.

But I do not want to mess around in distant spires of other titans when there is quite a time pressure to assault Oya directly. Maybe I am just missing group play at the Titan ? 🤔 it was very often bugged when I was not in solo, it is maybe once again worth a try.

Sadly, the bug of the stuck core still appears to be very much intact. So your experience can vary greatly.

And I guess I see how the spires provide a fun playground that way. Not really been my thing to go out to them though.
