Thargoid invasion - Next target systems?

I'm still getting sabotage missions for HR 1358, we might be able to wring a touch more peripheral out of it before Thursday.
If we take Frontier at their word - https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threa...goid-war-overhaul-tuesday-28-may-2024.625728/
Activity after a spire system has hit 100% will not result in additional spread pushback
but, could use the cleared system to stockpile the sabotage compound with greatly reduced inter/hyperdiction headache.

I've been flying to AXCZ for the last week in the HIP 20419 system.
Now I jumped in again, and I get a message that the Thargoids have already been defeated here.

I've only won there 4 times :(
Given recon of 20419 before, fear it may have had accelerated progress thanks to the planetary port as a swarm-free groundside CZ - If you want another system with that option, next one on the list I had is already at 99% so will skip that. Most convenient that could make a difference is probably,

Gaezatorix (55%) - Heyerdahl Depot (50Ls, Body 4, 0.19G)
-- The port is still offline but the AX sysdef are down there and engaging.
20240617201252_1.jpg

similar situation in HIP 20916, but the ports that side are 10kLs from star sadly.

Believe they do, but there had been a lot less Regular groups running spires in my experience.

Small update far as Gaezatorix by the by - mentioned it and it finished by the time i got back from work, 20916 is done in turn... after those two HIP 21112 down at 16% seems to be the highest progress system w/ ground port in the indra vicinity, not sure what to advise for best now.

Ha, I was IN HIP 20916 when the e-mail came to go find something else to do, Miller time, we're done, etc.

I switched over to ARITIS SECTOR HG-X B1-0 - spire site system. Looking for trouble? It's there. Real Life called so wasn't able to do much before I logged out but I'll be back later this afternoon so I can get blown up a few more times. There's a star system not far from there that just finished an alert so you can use that for RRR if needed.

I visited Arietis Sector HG-X b1-0 for Banshee clearance in Open a couple of times after we were done with pushing Hyades Sector NN-S b4-2, but did not see anybody else yet!

not sure what to advise for best now.

Generally any Spire site of your choice, now that Spire progress carries between weeks! Direct clearance could be started if those doing so know they can finish it without help necessarily, and Titan rescues definitely should be stored ahead of new Counterstrike locations in a few days.

Speaking of Titan rescues, I think we will need a large promotion of that for other Maelstroms after M. Indra, on a similar scale as with the M. Oya Research drive.

Please don't.
Unlike scout tissue gathering which can be done even in unengineered ship, titan rescues are very hard now. This is due to change of rules of engagement around Titan after they started becoming viable for bombing. It takes 3h to gather 120 pods and is incredibly stressful. It just ain't worth the effort. I scrapped my Rescuevette.

It needs a bit more evasion now with such discussed here, and its worth changed dramatically with update 18.06, now that the fewest-systems Titan gets absolutely dozens of Counterstrikes around it! Aside from the numerous populated systems, these now include Spire systems and many peripheral systems said Spires help to progress, so those systems also will benefit twice from Titan rescues. A good rescue offload on a Thursday gives the new week a very strong start!

Any action in a spire system now counts, rather than the spire itself though. At least that was my take from the last set of May notes

  • All contributions within a spire system have been retuned
    • Fully taking a spire system will always result in spread pushback to the equivalent of 85% of 10 systems

Well done all! That was quite the Control collapse around M. Indra, and especially I think we will get its equivalent of one of these moments:

I just checked Oya on the galaxy map and saw a sea of systems in recovery, incredible work you lot! o7

HIP 20480 obviously is very close and actually looked to be on a completion trajectory if everyone there in the previous hour remained there in this last hour of week 81, but either way the Titan is one more similar week away.

Week 82, 20th June 3310

Maelstrom Indra
Alert: Five to clear at any convenient time throughout the week.
Spire: Only HIP 22350 and Arietis Sector KR-V b2-1 remain.
Titan: Rescued Bio-storage capsules from HIP 20567 will boost progress for around ~22 Counterstrike systems.

Progress looks very good. A lot of activity presumably beyond 15% in control systems though when it might make more sense to do the same activity in active spire systems, and only switch to other controls as they reach 85%

(85% at a spire gets 10 controls to 85% each whereas getting a control to 85% - but is a spire system harder to get to 85% at the same distance)

They are the same difficulty regardless of distance, as far as I am aware - has been that way since their introduction.

And having direct progress within controls is actually good now due to the ‘rolling periphery’ where once one control clears, the spire progress will start affecting the next closest system. Which has resulted in the 34(?) system clearance around Indra last week, rather than 10 in that same time period.

(In fact, it’s quite likely Indra would not even be assailable yet under the old rules, due to extensive preparation which would have otherwise been required to avoid excessive complications in taking down its control sphere later on. Now… well, what made it almost impossible to uproot via a conventional push now is what’s probably going to make for its downfall, plus the large abundance of spires around the Titan.)

I'll put a worked example as while I understood the rolling periphery that wasn't what I was questioning

If I did 30% in a normal control that's a flat 30%
If I did 15% in the control and 15% in a spire, it's 15% + (10x15%). 165% giving 5.5 times the war progress for the same effort
There's nothing to do in a normal control that you can't do in a spire under the new rules, so not as if there is any other benefit

There's nothing to do in a normal control that you can't do in a spire under the new rules, so not as if there is any other benefit
That’s technically true but it comes down to the fact that systems are not rigidly adhering to a 10 system periphery any longer. Sure, you could have that 85% of a spire spread across 10 systems, but if there is sufficient support available that you could instead spread it across 20-30 cleared controls within a week… well, simply put, the activity distributed across the control sphere as opposed to a singular focus on spire systems, is more beneficial overall*. Even if the actions outside a spire’s location only affect that one system in particular.

If my explanation isn’t good enough, one of the war planners who are better at it will have to do. And I’m sure they’d do a better job of it than me.

*Though also likely to not be extremely harmful now that any progress applied through actions at a spire site is no longer removed at the Thursday(Thargsday) tick. Do as you prefer, really - both actions have their value.

Indeed we were pushing the now-complete HIP 19263, a few systems down from the top few, and called an early final-run when it leapt to 77.9%! Quite pleasantly it ended at 100.4%.

Presumably the next three will fall to Spire progress within an hour or two, then 51 Tauri has a quite nice planetary port Conflict zone in full daylight at present, Rothfuss Prospect on planet A 2 a. Unlike every time at Raidal yesterday, I have managed not to see a Glaive wing thus far!

Despite the strong resistance, consider earning 2 million Credits against the Titan core this weekend to guard against missed rewards.
Done that (as at Sunday got 2M hit/tag), does anyone think we will get the necessary 32 controls back on Thursday for possible destruction of Indra or is it out of reach for another week?

29, and possibly another week—it could be done with a strong Spire push, although the pace was much more calm yesterday after Hyades Sector ST-Q b5-5 was cleared, perhaps due to reaching the less-favourable Spire sites. The HIP 22350 site is in a quite nice-looking location amid some hills, although notably the gravity is middling rather than conveniently low.
