Thargoid invasion - Next target systems?

Almost certainly the astronomer Wilhelm Julius Förster; my ire at Foerster, regardless of how common its use may be, arises from the way Anglicised words join vowels together carelessly to attempt different vowel sounds. In this case, the correct sound is heard in the words earn and verse, for which ø and ö are equivalent and correct phonetically.
You think we should repatriate the 'oe' back to Greece? 😜 To Tartarus with these Hellenized spellings!

As Ian noted after checking all of them, they are likely actually physicians instead, but the spot of discovery is often quite nice!

That reminded me of having yet to research the name Lemonnier, given to the port Lemonnier Survey seen often beside one of my favourite bounty-hunting locations (HIP 20277). I think it may be a physicist named Pierre Lemonnier; I think also that these ports ought to bear memorial plaques we can read, akin to the visitor beacons around the Galaxy, which reveal the historical figure.
I did love how the old Inara site provided little links to articles on some of the names used in the game. I went down quite a few rabbit holes that way.

Sadly it was lost in the awful redesign.

… it still does.

Oh, good going on finding that! It used to be on the homepage so I saw it every time.

These days apparently there's an advert for YouTube Premium in that spot.
I found those links on more than one occasion. Right now, you just need to scroll a little to see them, on the station-specific pages.

That’s the only way I’ve known it to be, that’s for sure. Whenever the redesign happened, it must’ve been before I began to play Elite.

Victories in Balak, Trianguli Sector FL-Y b4, HIPs 20491 and 20948, and Col 285 Sectors EA-Q c5-1, EA-Q c5-7 and EA-Q c5-9; that becomes sixty-two systems this week!

Well done to @Grimscrub and the AXI team for guarding HIP 23716, leaving now only two Control systems which could possibly threaten Wakata Station—Trianguli Sectors CA-A c22 and BA-A d85, the latter of which contains a Matrix, albeit with other targets for it to attack first. If I understood it, that change also affects the newly-proposed Alert estimate in a way which retains the strange behaviour but gives back M. Taranis its fifth attack; I think it would now strike at Njorog and Trianguli Sectors EQ-Y b6 and CA-A c14, skip three, then attack the much weaker systems Hyades Sectors PN-T c3-5 and PN-T c3-8.

As a reminder to Commanders doing ever so well repelling all of the empty Alert systems, we discover soon whether HIP 8887 can attack HIP 9016. If it can, the latter is likely to be very difficult to defend and INIV plans not to do so, although it may present an interesting opportunity to measure its Alert strength. That becoming the case, I apologise on behalf of INIV for interrupting the consecutive prevention of any new Control systems, and I hope that gaining the knowledge of whether a Titan can attack provides at least a bit of consolation!

System strength statement

Postponed this week; a delivery has been prepared, but some of the Rescue megaships seem to have disappeared entirely for the moment.

Update: 700 units delivered for HIP 21125 has completed it versus an estimated 698.7; it should be fine to proceed with any deliveries. The actual progress became 101.2453%, yielding a projected strength of 691.4, such that Control system strengths appear to be unchanged.

Emphatic excitement

Invasions !!!!!!!!!!!(y):alien:

It gets even better than that, for we have—

Operation Redacted

Despite exhausting its usual respite interval, HIP 9016 has not been attacked! Timeline:

Respite 2

We conclude that HIP 8887, the Maelstrom system containing Titan Leigong, at worst follows a longer Respite interval but much more likely it cannot attack at all. By reasonable extension, it is very likely that Maelstrom systems cannot attack at all.

Aside from Matrix systems, which can still attack and are still impenetrable for the moment, this means theoretically that a Maelstrom can be stopped fully.

Yeah, best move quickly! Those invasions are gonna evaporate by Saturday. I literally blinked and Unktety was gone lol.

Indeed! Given the distances involved, the stronger Bi Dhorora ought to temper that rate a bit as more Commanders arrive, whereas little Unktety lies just beyond the usual gradients and in the very shallow range. To use Control strengths for the loosest of estimates, comparing Bi Dhorora to Unktety would be 7967 to 1538, around five times stronger!

Ahhh cheers for the info...I don't pretend to understand the nuts and bolts underneath the Thargoid BGS! Its nice to have the planetary defence scenarios back, even if just for a few days. Its the only time I venture into Open. I think of it as similar to a pick up group in old school WoW, a bit chaotic, and not the most efficient gameplay, but still fun. (The difference being in Elite, folks are generally polite!)
Anyhoo, I got my fix of shooting out hearts, I hope everyone else gets a chance before they disappear again!
