Thargoid invasion - Next target systems?

...did the Titan damage displays just disappear? I witnessed the T. Taranis damage very recently, did a spot of Cutter outfitting, then returned to the Galaxy map to find those concentric rings gone!
They disappeared for me last night as well. Obviously back for me today given I was able to snip the image.

From having a go at it myself and then watching several other people have a run at the titans, it feels like there's a bit of misconception going on. Every time the core resets you get a bond payout (proportional to your damage contribution) - that's the game loop adding your progress to the total and resetting for the next run. That's all there is to it - it's designed as an infinitely repeatable game loop, the Titan is not going to instantly explode if you manage to pump enough DPS into the core to make it reach 0%. People seem to be trying all kinds of crazy things, throwing all sorts of weapons and items at the cores thinking something has been missed when it's just a very basic accumulation activity, like CZs adding war progress or selling commodities for a CG.
Tend to agree. Keep at it and that circle will disappear eventually. Only 3 of us in there when I was helping, but world wide from England to end of work time on the east coast of the US, quite a bit of progress was made. Based on comparing Factabulous progress image and the one I snipped and pasted much later.

Very well done to everyone at T. Taranis! After but a few days, much less than a half-week in terms of weighted activity, it looks poorly indeed. Even if this follows not the usual 33% weekly reinforcement, I imagine a full week upcoming surely will be enough!

Week 65 Taranis.png

I have established a quite comfortable solo sequence with a Imperial Cutter for striking the core several times, at present limited by the accumulation of reinforcements each time. Two vents seem to afford enough time for just over 10% core damage, or around 13000 credits by that measure—two class 2 Thermal vent beams on the nacelles, one class 2 Nanite, and Azimuth multi-cannons everywhere else.

You can push that cutter to the limits of reckless flying and searing heat. Even completely mistiming my starting boost, I nabbed 4 vents and 34% damage on the core. The cutter has the speed to hit plenty of vents (I think 5 would be possible with a better pilot) and the firepower to make the most of that time. Slap the heavy shield on, and it doesn't matter how much the locals notice you.

Although AX is not really in our remit, as they have decided to write off any remaining captives and by inference there's not much incentive to see if pod rescues still do anything, I had a go at the vent and core attacks in Phantom (Millennium Pancake), which worked ok. 1 torpedo for the vents, 1 thermal vent beam laser and 2 class 3 Sirius AX Missiles for the core. I could hit 3 vents before they closed and with a bit more practice could probably hit 4. The core emerged and I managed to get to it in time and damage it a bit, but it was better with one other person who just hung around the core waiting for it to emerge while I hit the vents then blasted it with a ship carrying nothing but AX missiles, and as you would expect they could do a lot more damage.

Really though, this has wing activity written all over it.

By at least M. Hadad and M. Cocijo, the attacks are down to six Alerts again—all such changes since December feel driven very much by nothing other than needing systems present because the already-designed but unreleased Titan mechanism does not occur without them!

Whatever is meant by the High damage resistance T. Taranis purports to have, it begins still with three and a half of those eight rings from before, so I think the plan here is to continue striking it unless it seems some mid-range empty system removal may be needed to help its trajectory.

We're going to have a go at the Invasion HIP 25679. We don't know how much it will help to weaken the Titan and Taranis will likely be destroyed first but it doesn't hurt to have a go.

If the Titan is done this week then perhaps the difficulty of the systems around it will be reduced immediately or perhaps not till next Thargsday. Either way we will be placed to carry on there next week.

You can push that cutter to the limits of reckless flying and searing heat. Even completely mistiming my starting boost, I nabbed 4 vents and 34% damage on the core. Sirius missiles it is! I had noticed the nice leisurely time spent on two Vents could tighten to become the distance of three, and perhaps follow along a smaller radius to get a fourth by using the full Nanite range well. I had not noticed before that some vents are also closer to each other than others!

I found it quite effective to start gaining some distance towards the end of the available Core time, just with backward thrust—originally this was for positioning just outside the inevitable energy field, which can be done while remaining within Beam range (were Thermal vent a goal!), and I noticed that a quite nice benefit was to avoid some heat from the Core itself.

Although AX is not really in our remit, as they have decided to write off any remaining captives and by inference there's not much incentive to see if pod rescues still do anything, I had a go at the vent and core attacks in Phantom (Millennium Pancake), which worked ok.

Indeed I always imagined seeing something like a dual-progress with Extraction and Destruction—if not now, and nor in any further stages prior to destroying a Titan, then perhaps as a salvage operation afterwards if the Bio-storages are as good as our Escape pods for survival.

That sounds good! For now the trajectory seems to favour Titan completion, although I would consider that unknown until Friday evening, which is when the unspoken adjustments for the week are felt after being applied earlier in the day.

Hyades Sector FB-N b7-2 is the stray system in mind for possible pruning, where I think it will be fine if we attack T. Taranis now, then decide on Monday whether a harvest reunion will be appropriate!

Not sure how common knowledge it is, but since the "blue field" is donut shaped it's pretty safe to sit anywhere directly above where the core pops up and you won't be affected. Saves running a long distance away, as long as you can deal with the attention from the nearby goids.

Very well done to everyone at T. Taranis! After but a few days, much less than a half-week in terms of weighted activity, it looks poorly indeed. Even if this follows not the usual 33% weekly reinforcement, I imagine a full week upcoming surely will be enough!

I often end up in there at a time when there is just one other doing things and they bug out. Now I know why I turn around and see a swarm of scouts plinking away at me.

Maybe one day there will be more than 2 of us in there at play time.

I fly a cutter. Skin dancing at boost speeds.

Interested to see if "High" = "Reduced Damage" or simply "No damage"... since the circle's been full for a while now.
Also, liking the angry red colour the status indicator is going now it's down a few rings...

Maybe high does just reduce the damage - that fourth circle was not full at the time of the weekly reset, as far as I know.

… and maybe Taranis is preparing to get annnnggggrrry. If I were in its place, I probably would be a bit annoyed at those pesky humans.
