Thargoid invasion - Next target systems?

Took out a couple myself Thursday/Friday.
They're a lot less scary when I have a proper combat ship than flying an Orca full of refugees...
Yes I am very glad they did at least pull them back from chasing rescue ships. A few tricks we used for avoiding them as much as possible was to temporarily bookmark the port we were rescuing from and put it in favourites along with the rescue ships, then filter the Galaxy Map by state and untick Alert, Invasion, Control, Titan and Counterstrike. This would make the system you were rescuing from disappear from the map, hence bookmarking it first.

As an aside to previous discussion, providing Cocijo does not reactivate one of its spires a final time* and/or HIP 38235 does not end up as a counterstrike (which is less likely given its positioning, even if not impossible), perhaps there could be a consideration made to keep it under Thargoid control** for access to the Tactical Core Chips until the Titan itself is destroyed.

*In that case, it would forcibly end up cleared, regardless of any plans for its preservation.

**That is also assuming randoms don't end up deciding to target the system for clearance anyway because it is a formerly populated one... with a history of bugged mission boards, as I remember. Or that Cocijo does not end up abandoning it in whatever it is the Thargoids have planned.

I'd also stipulate that it depends on what "surprise" if any is in store.
GalNet has been making it sound like there is for some time (although the surprise would then more be what they do rather than if they do)... so, yeah, the question definitely is "What". For all we know the Titan could decide to head off into one of the deeper core (Bubble) systems, abandoning the controls which it has around itself now to move them into other systems at its arrival destination.

My guess is more on Shinrarta-like invasions. But perhaps with more actual risk of something significant happening to the system.

Ahead of possible special attacks and perhaps a relief for some if we get no more Spire sites, from Update 19.02:

Ram Tah has made further technical advances and the Tactical Core Chip is no longer required as part of the recipe for Anti-Guardian Zone Resistance

Caustic Crystals can be found drifting occasionally around destroyed Titans (as opposed to within a Maelstrom exclusively), but for the moment an intact Titan still is needed to get Hardened Surface Fragments, so this change extends the availability of Guardian weapon protection until T. Cocijo actually explodes.

Did you by chance see my earlier post & pics --> https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threa...-target-systems.612125/page-327#post-10491608 ... THANKS again for all your help CMDR !

I did, and most welcome!

For this evening, aside from ensuring Col 285 Sector US-H b11-3 (74%) is secured eventually, the general feeling here is not to worry too much about trying to push for vulnerability week 106 (5th December) given the special attack hint earlier. A Spire trade during the update 19.02 maintenance tomorrow would count for two extra systems and accelerate the remainder, but the inability to attack normally really puts special events first.

At this point something such as a hundred-system Invasion would be unsurprising, as would a possible Colonia strike and listing anyone planning Fleet Carrier shuttles—unless the Ship Transfer Times question was part of such a plan!

Wait, what? Arf just stated 'if you think the Thargoid War is coming to an end, stay tuned on Socials Tomorrow' WOW!!!!

Shame - I don't use them toxit sites but sure it will be put on this forum after announcements.

Why not make such announcements on OFFICIAL ED FORUMS instead of those **** sites.

It was a sufficiently vague warning that it's hard to predict exactly, but safe to say that tomorrow won't quite be business as usual.

Titan Cocijo still should be coming to an end though; I mentioned this before on occasion, and it is still the case that the following from Titan Combat Rewards & Changes has yet to be contradicted by anything mentioned since:

Participating Commanders will also receive a ship kit, paint job and decal after the defeat of each Titan. This set will reflect the amount of Titan battles you personally participated in, with each Titan you destroy awarding you a different set, for a total of 8 to earn.

Beyond that, I imagine any context in which fighting Thargoids is not at an end would merge with another topic in the minds of many—what Frontier plans to do with the Titan experience in future for new Commanders to enjoy. There are many possibilities; one is a newly-unlocked sector being filled with Thargoid systems, and another is sporadic Titan arrivals.

The latter would be quite good for showing the Interstellar Anomalies moving, and perhaps reaching them with Supercruise Overcharge this time!

I should be clear that I meant tomorrow won't be business as usual... but that doesn't mean normal business won't have resumed by next week, or even sooner.

I did consider elaborating in my post, but the way Arthur talked about us 'thinking the war is coming to an end', made me think this is going to be an extension, or at least a bump in the road to finishing off Cocijo. Maybe just a minor flourish (an attack on <insert system here> for one week?) so that they can 'pace out' the Titan narrative to finish on a week of FDevs choosing. But yes, maybe it'll have no direct impact on finishing Cocijo at all, and instead will introduce the next 'phase' of the War, which could be all or none of the possibilities you suggest.

I have a 3-day weekend this week, so hopefully it'll at least be fun!
