Tell that to my devout Catholic MotherWe know earth based religions didn't survive the discovery of extraterrestrial life ...that's why we dont see any such factions or even iconography by the current time.
We can see why it wouldn't survive it because most religions will say their stories come from their diety and yet, they didn't think to mention all of the other worlds where the same process of life was occurring and that we may be 1 of many beings which can think and act .... making the anthrocentric nature of them all obviously a relic of a social tool of a bygone era and nothing more.
However the need for such a tool has never really gone away, now we have cults of alien worshippers and such ... Which i think would exist in the elite time period, just not those that use old earth religious iconography.

There will still be some who believe, as it's bigger than the Universe apparently.she's already indoctrinated...probably for decades.
Try teaching a kid that the bible (or any religious book) is real when they're seeing evidence that life isn't unique to earth personally as they live on another planet. When they have undeniable evidence of creation of planets and such not following anything like the way described in such books.
Within a couple generations it becomes a ridiculous fictional story and little more ...even worse because it demands belief as non-fiction.
so old religions died out in humanity. To be replaced by cults.
While they were intense and resolute, many also appeared unhealthy.
Hive chapels are goid bases.

On June 16, exotheologian Dr. Alfred Ulyanov highlighted one unnamed cult that even worshiped the Thargoids as divine beings, and preached that only they would survive the apocalyptic arrival of an extra-dimensional, omnipotent entity called the Far God. The cult's followers gathered in hive-chapels patterned after Thargoid vessel and structure designs. The interiors were dark, with pulsing green lights, surfaces covered in a black, coral-like substance, and an overpowering stench of ammonia. Members directed their prayers at an altar shaped like a Thargoid Interceptor. The members themselves were adorned only in simple, unmarked robes with hoods. While they were intense and resolute, many also appeared unhealthy.[3]
To me it sounds very Anthropological, which by it's very nature is diverse.as i mentioned, cults to replace the old religions. We know these particular cults are full of nonsense as well since we know thargoids were effectively defeated by robots created by "lesser" beings long before humans were in the picture - so what was the purpose of that interaction?. The idea that they're coming for humans when they dont appear to be directed centrally to humans but rather we are going to them further contradicts the cult beliefs.
Not to mention the self contradictory language around their so-called far god. If he is unknowable, how can you know it's motivation? If it's omnipotent, why would it require belief, much less anything else from other life forms far beneath it? None of this makes any sense. This is a cult created by loonies for loonies.
Is that the first time you stated that If not I missed it.I think with being a historian you don't have to believe in the things your investigating especially when it comes to religion. The point is to use the story with corroborated evidence in order to form your own opinion. My opinion is simple. I think there is a peaceful resolution to our war with the thargoids.
To me it sounds very Anthropological, which by it's very nature is diverse.
