The 7 (or 5) stages of grief - how many weeks or months before people reach stage 7 (or 5)?

LOL on people that have that opinion I think is both wrong and also very disrespectful.

Even more, that kind of mistaken understanding of market laws, is one of the reasons that undermine gamers position. If we gamers were more demanding about quality, and were more coherent about, not purchasing, the key point, because we "vote" with our money, we will not be in this situation so frequently. They (councils of shareholders of companies) know that there are enough so comprensive, empathic, and specially, so emotional kind of buyers, even personally attached to a game, that they can prioritize easily launch a game unfinished and almost broken (fiscal year, for example), with more benefits than drawbacks in long term doing so. Becase enouh of the old people are going to accept the new game, and they (CEO and shareholders) hope that they are going to bring new people and money later (in this case, fps people).

We buyers as a whole we have what we deserve, but I don't deserve more damage control from other gamers.

I am waiting to console release with both hope and fear (probably more fear than hope) but, I don't LOL on people that are more or less demanding than me, thanks.

How is that voting with your money working out for you? ;)

Not complaining Old Duck, laughing at. There is a difference ;)

In that same vein, some of us are laughing at Odyssey. Heck, I LOVE Odyssey, as it introduced me to the X Universe! I've been having a blast playing X4 Foundations, a game I wouldn't have tried had Odyssey not failed so epically hard.

Seriously, I have zero RL grief regarding the state of Odyssey. But I have a feeling Frontier rather have people grieving over it than laughing at it, because at least the grievers still care.

What scalability?
The minimum system requirements for EDO were pushed up... and even people running the recommended cpu/gpu are still not getting the promised performance.

You get that releasing a half-finished expansion and the scalability of the game are separate things though, right? Simply pointing out that "consoles holding back the PC build" continues to be a fallacy.

If this was Frontiers first time I would agree with Agony.

The forty dollar big show was a joke and mostly regression and broken. Releasing as finished when its just an alpha for console.

The dissatisfaction storm will continue. Until everything has been made right.

Agony you bang on Star Citizen non stop for years. You ask everyone to stop their show of dissatisfaction with ED. When you step back things arnt so dissimilar these days. Maybe you need to stop because your hypocrisy is peak. No disrespect but your position is pure clown world.

It not being FD's first time should perhaps make you think that all the complaining in the world isn't going to change things. Sure, a lot of moaning over many years eventually got Engineering changed... and people still complain about it, and then what did they do with Odyssey? They did the same but ramped it up a factor of 10!

I think by now, anyone who has followed the development of ED should either be totally resigned to this poopoo or have quit long ago.

And yeah, as i said to Duck, i'm not complaining about the development of SC. I'm having a laugh at it. SC has provided me with years of free entertainment. Here's to another 10 years of SC's alpha!

@Agony_Aunt See Your entire opening post is the ultimate "white knight" stance, basically you are sayin, "games is borked AF but pipe down and suck it up butter cups"
You should update your avatar:

The green is the default scanner friendly colour, the red is the dark red for no shields rings, the dark gery is the forum sidebar grey, the orange and blue are the in game hud colours, and I even put Frontiers old logo on the shield for you (y)

The one thing I particularly want to take you to task on is, unsurprisingly, your point on VR players...

In the thread I posted with a call for VR to be placed on the roadmap, which essentially started the current VR campaign, our ask was for VR to be put on the back end of the roadmap, after they have fixed the main game and or launched to consoles, which would as you say, most likely be next year, that would be an acceptable outcome. What we got instead was an announcement that VR is basically being thrown under a bus., that is not acceptable. We encountered somethign last year, when Odyssey was announced, we asked about VR in it, and got told "Odyssey will not be VR compatible, but Horizons will remain VR compatible" and we pushed back against that and the company did repsond, with a compromise including this virtual flatscreen, sadly the virtual flatscreen sounds like a better idea than it actually is to play with, wiht many, myself included, finding it INDUCING not mitigating nausea.

For the most part, the VR community aren't "greiving" we are "resisting", and we actually have a pretty good batting average, so we definitely do not yet feel that "resistance is fultile".

I have no idea how you get white knight from my post. A white knight would be saying nothing is wrong.

Your definition of what a white knight is seems rather bizarre.

Its more of a Nihilistic Knight stance ;)

I agree. However, anyone who wishes to do so and still thinks pre-ordering is okay needs to accept they are a part of the problem that they are complaining about. That's not victim-blaming, that's a fact. Publishers wouldn't be anywhere near as willing to put out unfinished games if pre-orders were not a thing.
Whilst I agree and voted with my wallet by not pre-ordering and not buying Odyssey, that is a much wider industry issue.

I have pre-ordered in the past (Horizons & ED beta) but generally I'm of the opinion that I want to see the finished product before I part with my cash. Unfortunately I'm very much in the minority.

Launches like Cyber Punk, Odyssey & Anthem (to name but a few) may be the starting point of a backlash against pre-ordering...but I seriously doubt it.

I'm sure some are laughing. I've made a few jokey posts as well about Odyssey.

I'm not talking about those people. I'm talking about those who spend every day being upset and venting on the forums.

One thing that is funny, is all the people who are complaining about EDO being in a terrible state saying they are going to give their money to CIG instead.

Talk about

mv /dev/frying_pan /dev/fire

Encourage them. Chris needs the $$$$, and they need to learn what a dev that really doesn't care about their players look like.

Oooh, good thinking!

Hey everyone, give all your money to CIG!

And be sure to use my referral code for 5000 free aUEC!

And remember, if the game runs badly or has lots of bugs, its because your computer isn't up to spec, you didn't install it on a SSD, and you don't understand game development. Buy an Idris!

At this point if you love and care about the actual game (Which I do) and are sick of the lies the only thing you can do is hold Frontier accountable to what was sold and promised. Making displeasure with the product, the business ethics and immorality known is the only way to invoke change.

If I didn't like the game so much or see so much promise in it I wouldn't bother. Being resigned and lining up as a lamb to the slaughter is not an acceptable solution and I think you know that because you've been fighting the fight against an unethical game for years and you don't even own it (As far as I know). So for you to stand here and lecture the community (Me) about resigning to it and to stop complaining is ridiculous. The fact you can even post this is unfathomable to me.

I feel like from reading you in Star Citizen thread (Off topic - Gaming discussion - Worth a read everyone good thread) you have a personal crusade against at least one gaming companie'(s) with bad ethics and immorality. Lets forget about CR for a min and think about Braben. Kickstars a game then focuses on company and other games while his initial pitch withers on the vine. Finally get dlc after more than half a decade and what is it. Both men hold sticks with carrots in front of the donkey (Us) in order to enrich themselves. Braben actually delivered some of the vision but never filled in the cracks and polished it up like it should have been. Now this dlc.... Many of the things you rail against in other places are very present here, especially now. I would hope you of all Cmdr's could understand whats going on here with the community. Its actually a beautiful thing, passionate fans and intelligent consumers voicing their well earned displeasure but voicing it because they care about a game so much, they (Me especially) feel its worth it.

You are a smart person and have had some wonderful posts over the years that I really have enjoyed (Been reading SC thread since version 9) and I know if you honestly were introspective with yourself right now you would understand what is going on here, and even think that it's righteous and get behind it.
