The best way of making credits right now in the game...

Maybe I'm missing something, but can someone explain why isn't Frontier attracting its playerbase to the most fun and dangerous PvE content they added since release?

Perhaps there is something else going on?

We have very little understanding about what they are doing, or what they want.
Just take a minute to consider the actual Thargoid behaviour.
The current Thargoids are mostly reacting to our aggression.
In general they do not attack without provocation.

What does that tell you?

If you want to kill them then you are free to do so.
Perhaps certain organizations will pay more in the future to kill them.

I think it is better to show restraint.

Absolutely, but nowhere in these scenarios the Pilots Federation is cheap, while millions of civilians burned alive on so many stations. It remains our choice to fight them regardless if we get paid 2 mil or 10 mil per kill.

I went to rescue passengers from burning stations because what I saw - and then confirmed it as - was fun and it also paid nice money too along with rank increases.

I really didn't need multimillion motivation there.

The majority of players doesn't bother with an activity unless they know they'll be rewarded. This is how games in the last century did it, so they expect it in Elite as well. It's nobody's fault, it's how things are in 2018.

What I'm saying is Frontier should attract the playerbase to new content with credits, it gives everyone one good reason to try it. Eventually a lot more people will keep doing it not only for the reward, because fighting Thargoids is actually really really fun. They did an awesome job with the audio, visuals, animations, etc. A video doesn't do these fights justice.

The rewards do not fit the effort at all. This seems almost intentional, as if Frontier doesn't want to be seen as pupeteering us into a war by creating an incentive too juicy to ignore. The obvious way around this is to make the rewards at least as good as those for killing human pirates.

I've engaged them a couple of times, when I didn't really have any other options.

I did not find it all that much fun:

1. Wing encounters were bugged, and one wing mate or another would be able to do absolutely no damage.
2. They required extremely specialized ship builds and offered very limited tactics.
3. Combat is very long, drawn out and repetitive.
4. Payouts and material rewards nearly never covered the costs of repairs and reloads.
5 .Our only other real interaction is basically submitting to pirate demands, by ejecting cargo.

I found investigating thargoid planetary facilities far more rewarding and interesting, despite the fact all our studies have really not shed any new light on anything Thargoid-related.

..should be killing the alien species that is slowly getting closer and closer to our core systems.

It's the biggest threat our corner of the galaxy has met in hundreds of years, yet the Pilots Federation is cheaping out, while we're supposed to risk our lives against them. They also hurt like hell, and repairs stack up quick.

And yes, they're getting easier to kill with the new weapons? Drop the rewards slowly. In lore, the more people do an activity, the less they should be paid anyway.

What, are you MAD?

Playing the game as it is intended should NEVER be the way to get credits.

It should be an exploit where it grants hundreds of millions of credits in a very short amount of time. Anything less is unacceptable 'cuz respect muh time bruh.
