Well what an intriguing first day of racing we had. We'll start in Unlimited as that's where most of the action was. I was a little concerned near the beginning that this might be an overly heavy DBX race, and we all know how much I love that ship... But fortunately there's been an interesting spread.
In 9th in their Imperial Eagle, yes an Imperial Eagle, we have Timber McWolf who has already made a huge improvement and knocked 10 minutes off of their first time. Next we have Sir Boundness who's style I must say reminds me of me in the first few years of Buckyball, where I would rock up in my exploration fit Asp to do races in between exploration trips. He wasn't in an Asp, but a Type-9, and what else can you do in a Type-9 other than trade? And so with a very respectful time of 36 minutes, and a profit of over 2 million credits, all while FA-Off it's a very impressive run. Next up a very last minute entry (while I was writing this) from Shockbait, who despite having some lag issues with the on board ship computer and the station services, managed to get their Type-7 Transporter... Yes, a Type 7, around the course in 34 minutes. Next we have a double entry from TripleRazor and the first of the DBXs, who managed to improve their initial time by 6 minutes to move up into sub 25 minute times.
Now comes a pair that are very close, or are they...

Could be 1 second, could be 59 seconds, but close they are. Just behind we have Arrowroot 66 who dragged their DBX around despite the mistakes that they made along the way, and just in front we have a racer old enough to remember the original running of this Edelgard Von Rhein who took the Federal Assault Ship around. I do enjoy a nice bit of ship variety and I'm not sure I've ever seen one racing before.
The current podium places have all managed to duck under the 20 minute barrier. In third we have Cmdr Sulu who brought the Crimson Haybayler around the course in a time of 19 minutes. We jump up to the 18 minute mark with Mr. Turner who slipped the Bananery Fandango into second place. And although in the same minute bracket the top spot is currently help by Shaye Blackwood, who steamrollers his way in front with his Type-7 Transport. Yes, you know those ships that are the first ones you think of when it comes to sleek and nimble... Amazing work really, and great job by all so far.
In the Regulation class we start at the lower end with Shockbait who managed to get around the course in 35 minutes. Next up we have FearlessF21, who simply defined their run as "horrific". None the less it was close to breaking the 30 minute barrier, so I am sure we will see improvements in the coming days. We now jump up a few minutes and the groupings begin. In the 27 minute bracket we have Sir Boundness and Sulu. Sulu was definitely bemoaning that the brakes weren't as good in the Cobra as they were in his DBX, the landing gear is a lot better though eh?

And Sir Boundeness once again FA-Off, no orbital lines, and the added complication of magical forces moving the mailslot out the way as he was approaching
Jumping up a minute into the 26s and we find Cmdr Stevenson and Arrowroot battling it out. Cmdr Stevenson was caught out by the jump from Robert Aitken being obscured, and decided to push through in Supercruise to clear it. Maybe the copious amounts of food consumed at the celebration event they had just attended slowed her down too, but I'm sure they'll be looking for an improvement. Cmdr Arrowroot was another complaining that the mailslot at Kucher seemed to be moving of it's own accord, strange things are afoot...
The top two spots are held by Edelgard and Alec. Edelgard is in second place and managed to battle through obscured jumps, overshot pads, and forgetting to pay a previous fine off and so having to deal with anonymous access too (Bucky would be proud). But ahead at the top spot is Mr Turner, who reported nothing out of the ordinary about his run. But how far ahead, is he 1 second, or is he 119 seconds... Who knows.
(well I know)
