I sure hope the next race gets an announcement in here...
The next race: Once Upon a Time in Leesti - hosted by me - will begin on Thursday 24th October starting at 12:00UTC and running to Monday 4th November at 12:00UTC.
It's beginning one day earlier than scheduled to hopefully compensate for any mid-race galactic instability caused by the big Powerplay 2.0 update which drops during the race.

The official race thread should be ready by Monday, and I'll post in here again with a link.

Here is the current up-to-date list of unlimited class ships banned for racers who have previously finished in the top-5 of races 1-6 (thanks Alec):

Two more days until the race starts?
Yes.
The race thread is up now.
I'll be adding the required additional detail during the evening (mostly a few screenshots and videos of the Shenanigans) as well as tidying up the formatting.

As the neon lights of the bar at Rebuy Station flicker to life, pilots straggle in to check the latest season scoreboard. It stands in its usual spot, proudly mounted behind the bar, buzzing and flickering in rich yellow and crimson hues. Racers raise glasses of Lavian Brandy and Indi Bourbon, swapping stories of close calls, daring escapes, and blinding speed. Once again, the Buckyball Race Club has put on a show for the ages, and the spirit of racing is alive and well.

This past race, "Once Upon a Time in Leesti," hosted by the infamous Lonnigan Brothers, was nothing short of legendary. Pilots zoomed through the Old Worlds in classic Cobra MkIIIs, hauling rare commodities of Leestian Evil Juice and Azure Milk, evoking the nostalgic days of early interstellar trade. Fat Tony and Little Nuk even introduced "Shenanigan Class," where pilots pulled off absurd stunts for the cameras. The Lonnigan Brothers promised the race would be straightforward this time—but, in true Buckyball fashion, there were plenty of explosions and last-minute disintegrations.

"No disintegrations, huh?" laughed one pilot at the bar, holding up a half-empty glass of Leestian Evil Juice.

"Yeah, looks like you lost that bet," chimed an older one, as he pushed another round towards the unfortunate youngster.

Just how fast can spaceships go?! This question has always been at the heart of the Buckyball Racing Club, all the way from the original Buckyball Braben Star-to-Shining-Star Memorial Trophy Dash, where pilots without fuel scoops jumped across a tiny bubble of 55 stars, on to the recent Ring Tossers Rally where pilots overcharged SCO drives to blast through rings at 50 times the speed of light.

And so commanders, mark your calendars to answer that question once again! From December 6th through 15th, the galaxy’s most daring pilots will race for glory in the grand finale of the third Buckyball season. Prepare yourselves and your ships for: "The Buckyball Braben Star-to-Shining-Star Memorial Trophy: X Marks the Dash." This eighth and final race of the season, is a mashup of the very first Buckyball race, and the tenth thus "X Marks the Dash." It will put your navigation, piloting, and sheer determination to the ultimate test. Get ready for one last adrenaline-fueled showdown as we close out the season in true Buckyball style— a simple race harkening back to the basics with speed, precision, and a healthy dose of chaos. Are you fast enough to make your mark? Stay tuned for details...

Ah. Thank you, Alec. Sounds intriguing. Looking forward to hearing more about it.

Looking forward to it. PowerPlay 2.0 managed to revitalize my flagging interest in Elite Dangerous. PP 2.0 isn't nearly as time and focus intensive as manipulating the BGS for fun and profit, so I'm taking more opportunities than ever to play, even if it amounts to a single run. I'm hoping that this'll translate into a bit better performance than other races. At the very least, my gravity skills won't have atrophied nearly as much as past races.

...

I've just jinxed myself, haven't I? 😱

There is being a 24h pvp charity stream organized to celebrate the 10th anniversary for 14/15 December. Motto is "Gank Cancer" to support an English cancer support organisation who helped streamer Brother Sabathius' father.

The main focus is on pvp, but not only combat. So the idea was to ask you if Buckyball Racing Club wants to be involved by organizing a race to cover roughly 2 hours of the stream. It can be an easy race to attract as many participants as possible.

Please let me know if this would work for you.
