Community Event / Creation The Buckyball Racing Club presents Season 3: The Triple Eight Championship: Lucky Bucky Landing Slots!!!!!!!!

From what I've heard, the Cobra Mk V might be a great racecraft...
Can confirm, I was putting it through its paces this morning.

Not quite as slick as the Mandalay in SC but very close. Perhaps a teensy bit drifty FA Off but only so as to have a bit of character. Boosts to 671 and a jump range of 58.75 with a fairly standard racing/exploring loadout (G5 dirty/drag drives, G5 long range/mass manager SCO FSD, 2xSRVs, DSS).

I don't know that I actually love it's looks as much as the classic Mk III, it's kinda boxy from some angles.

Just re-posting Bruski's final championsip points update from the Discord ..

Congratulations on a rip-roaring season of speed and choas, where we survived Braben Tunnels, numerous patches, new ships, the introduction of a completely new supercruise drive and mechanic, and finally an invasion of humanity's home system during the final race!

It has been a wonderful few months of racing, and I'm impressed by the dedication and skill shown by so many, and merely saddened that I didn't have the time or energy to participate as I wanted to, nor to keep up with happenings and updates as I ought. I'm happy to be able to hand over the reigns to the inestimable Alec Turner for the next season, and hopefully can find some stability and rest in my own life so that I can spend more time with spreadsheets and spiralling death helixs. 😄

But as the final token of my esteem this year, I give you the scoreboards for the season, and what a competition it has been! Up until the very last moment the regulation podium was up for grabs, and now we have not one, but TWO champions in our (perhaps our last time with the) Cobra Mk III!

Kevin the Stabber came from behind to knock Alec out of first place by a single point, and tie with Ozric for a shared Championship!

Interesting outliers are Shaye Blackwood and Sgurr, both of whom entered only one race, and each won that race, and so end up tied for 18th place!
Darplata also had a higher average placement than the entire podium, with a combined 1st and 3rd place giving him an average placement of 2.

Overall, the Classic Cobra Regulation Class had:

1,346 points

201 Entries

119 Placements

28 Commanders

8 Races

2 Champions

1 Ship
