The "Can I Run Planet Coaster" thread

Hi Flutey

If he was to get the ti it will future proof him for at least 2-4 years on any game even with low resolution.

I would agree the RX 470 would be enough but as games get more and more gpu intensive apart from planet coaster which is as you said CPU intensive then a RX 470 would be out dated within 2 years.

Besides he may well get a HD monitor one day and want to play on high end resolution etc.

i have these specs :
asus z170 extreme 7+ mobo
i7 6700k turbo's to 4.6ghz
16gb 2166 ram
gtx1080
1000w psu
kingstone 1tb m.2 ssd
h80i cooler

running my monitor at 3440 x 1440 100hz, doesn't matter what settings i use for both the computer and planet coaster, with 4000 peeps in my park, i get around 25-30fps.
if i open a new sandbox park, i see 90fps peak.

Nice set up you got. I get 25-28 FPS at 3000 guests. More tweeks to come in the beta though. So should push your FPS up :)

Thanks! yeah i really hope so, alpha 2 was perfect, i was seeing easy 60-70fps, alpha 3 came and it dropped!
the sfx like fire and water jets hog the fps

Can my asus laptop run this game in medium settings?

Intel i7 2.6GHz,
16GB DDR4 RAM,
1TB HDD,
GTX960M 2GB Graphic Card

Hi Flutey :) Thanks for your input
I know that the rx 4xx series are quite good but i'm still using a VGA monitor and i don't want to upgrade because i'm not a gamer so i won't use a higher resolution, 1440 x 900 is more than enough for me. That's why i already bought a GTX 980 because the Ti is too expensive for me and in the near future i won't play any high-end games (actually planet coaster is one of the first ones in many years :) ) so i'm updating my PC just for Planet coaster :D (and GTA V hehe). Therefore the GTX 980 will serve good for me a couple of years until i will maybe upgrade totally and buy a new PC with new monitor.....

Thank you for your help!

Will I be able to run this game if I buy an Intel Core i7-6700K?

Intel Core i7-6600U 2.5Ghz (3.1 Ghz TurboBoost) Dual Core
NVIDIA GeForce 940m 2GB
Intel HD Graphics 520 Display
8GB RAM

So I know I'm in the middle ground between minimum and recommended specs, but I'm wondering how flexible the graphics settings are? I would happily trade image quality for FPS.

Intel I5 4670k (3.8 quad core)
GTX 770 4GB with a decent OC (1267)
16GB RAM

I'd be playing at 1080, and just wondering if anyone has a similar setup. I'm buying the game regardless lol

I played Planet Coaster for a few hours during the Free Alpha Weekend and while I thoroughly enjoyed my time and can't wait for beta, I could never change my graphic settings to anything above Low without getting some serious lag. Even simply moving the camera was jittery, and while I didn't hate having my settings on Low (the game runs fine but looks ugly), is there any way I will be able to amp them up in the beta or on release?
My specs:

Intel i7-4770T
NVIDIA GeForce GT 730A
16 GB

I would say the Intel Core i7-6700k is one of the good CPU's from Intel and definitely meets the "recommended" system requirements. The 8GB RAM is on the low side but should be ok. The NVIDIA 940M should be able to play this game on low settings maybe medium on 720p or 1080p. As for the Intel HD 520, it is a very weak GPU integrated into Intel processors. My laptop has this (intel Core i5-6200U) and it can only play this game on 1920x1080 LOW settings at 1fps. The i7-6700k has a higher manufactured clock speed of a base speed of 4Ghz with turbo boost to 4.2Ghz, and can be overclocked. It has 4 cores and 8 threads and a bigger 8MB cache.

Yes you will be able to run this game if you have an Intel Core i7-6700k (6th gen from Intel), as it is considered my numerous sources to be a high end desktop quad core processor (notebookcheck). I think it has the fastest default clock speed out of all the other 6th gen Intel processors.

Can someone tell me please, to what detail I will be able to run PC?

Intel i7-2700K (not overclocked)
24GB DDR3 1600
EVGA GTX970 SSC ATC+ 2.0 4GB

I played the alpha weekend with graphics maxed and built a very small park. It ran pretty well but I'm concerned about lag as the park grows.

Thanks!

That depends on how large you build your parks. It's hard to say how Planet Coaster will perform on your computer, because it is not yet known how it will run when the beta is released. It will be easier to answer your question once the beta is released on November 9th, 2016.

Thanks Joel! I guess you're right about waiting for the beta. I'm optimistic because it ran so well during the alpha weekend. My proc. is probably the bottleneck here; even though its a little old, its still pretty powerful. I can't wait for next live stream to see what Sam has to say, and of course Wednesday for the beta, Frontier has added so much since the alpha. This game is the best! Huge Hype!

I am considering this build with my budget. With all the talk about CPU I am afraid to get anything other than an i7 but they are so expensive, would this be enough to play highly detailed parks in PC?

i5-6600K 3.5GHz
RX 480 8GB
8GB DDR4
2TB HHD 120 GB SSD

I would upgrade the RAM to 16GB soon after if I bought it. I just want to be able to run any park I throw at it, any thoughts would be a huge help, I know the i5 is fast but would having the 4 cores rather than 8 hinder game play on highly detailed parks with lots of guests? Thanks.

Planet Coaster is highly optimised for Multi Threading, so yes, the more Threads available on your CPU, the better it will work. You should think about an I7 6700K due to the 8 Threads.

I have a i7 3770K I can run this on high settings up till about just over 3000 guests but then my FPS goes to about 25-28. The I5 will be fine but we are all waiting for the beta to come out now to see how optimised it is as people have been saying that even the high end pc's are struggling atm with bigger parks etc.

i have looked at mine and the one you want there isn't much price comparison. this is your choice but if i was you wait till the beta and see what people say then.
