The "Can I Run Planet Coaster" thread

Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-6700K CPU @ 4.00GHz (8 CPUs), ~4.0GHz

Wow that is a powerful rig, if that is only getting 20fps that is disheartening.. The game is absolutely brilliant but if you cannot play it to its full potential even with that powerful of a system that is not a good sign, I really hope that frontier is still focused on making a large gain in optimization in the remaining time before release. I just dropped over a $1000 on a new system and honestly it was this game that urged me to so some because my old system couldn't play it. It seems that there have been many others in the same situation, hopefully this is addressed in a big way.

Has anyone gotten a full park with a decent FPS??? If so can you post your specs. I am about to build a computer, and want to make sure this game can handle it.

Here you go:
I7 4790k
GTX 980 G1 Gaming
SSD
ASROCK Z97x Killer
H100i Liquid Cooler
NZXT H440

Runs 40-60 FPS

Damn.. only 20fps with that setup! That's just crazy!

I'm getting 28-36fps with my setup
Intel Core i7 6700k 6th gen quad core processor
AMD R9 390 8GB
16GB DDR4 HyperX RAM.

Playing on 1280x720 Ultra settings. Beta won't let me change my resolution, even though my Sony KDL40EX720 is a Full HD 1920x1080 HDTV. My PC is connected via HDMI.

How many people are in your park, I have 1 test that has almost 15,000 peeps and another that has 10,000 and both have no more room to build.

The park with 15,000 peeps gets about 9 -12 fps.

I forget my resolution ist 1440x900, a little Monitor [big grin]!cry]
You're probably looking at low settings. Maybe some medium settings will be mixed in, but mostly low. The game should run fine though!

If you're only getting 20 fps then something is wrong with your OS environment. You need to start cutting background apps and services. All those little things in the lower right of your taskbar are probably doing things you don't want them to be doing. Your computer needs to focus on the game, not all those craplets.

I have an equivalent computer. Just swap your 6700k for a 4930k. You should be running on high and hitting an absolute minimum of 40 fps. Downloading particularly intricate structures from the workshop will reduce your performance though. All depends on how much stuff you're jamming into your parks. Still, you should be getting a lot more than 20 fps.

My specs are:

Windows 10 64bit
AMD A10-8700P Radeon R6
8GB RAM

Will I be able to run the game when it's released as both the Alpha and Beta crash before loading a new park

I would like to know what you guys think I should do to be able to play the game at decent FPS. Here are my specs:

HP 15-an051dx "Star Wars Special Edition" Laptop
Intel Core i7-6600U 2.6 Ghz (3.1 Turbo) Dual Cores
8GB RAM 1600Mhz DDR3
NVIDIA GeForce 940M 2GB
Intel HD Graphics 520 Display

Hey guys, has anyone seen any difference between win 7 pro, win 8.1 or win 10? (64bit)?

I only ask because it seems some people with powerful rigs are still having trouble with FPS on this game. I am currently on holiday in the states and unable to try the beta on my PC.

Running:
Core i7 3770k (stock)
16gb ram
Samsung pro SSD
Gtx 980ti
Os win 7pro (64bit)

I run at 25-28FPS with just over 3000 peeps

I don't need advice I am only asking if anyone has tried this on 2 of the 3 or all 3 os's to see if there is any difference in the optimisation?

Thanks in advance guys

Yes, this will be the one. You will be running at Low to Medium settings. It will run, but it might not run well enough for you. You'll have to try the game to find out. Your computer is very GPU-limited. I would advocate for a GPU upgrade before the RAM upgrade. 16GBs is nice, but getting something newer and better than that 760 is more important. See how the game runs on your 760 before deciding if you need to upgrade to a 480, 470, 1060, or 1050. Jumping from 8GB to 16GB of RAM will not make the impact a GPU upgrade will.

Well, I was running on Ultra on my first test without any FPS issues. After building 10 rides and 2 coasters, the FPS dipped a little so I dropped some of the usual culprits (Anti-Aliasing, Shadows etc) to off / medium, and the game runs really really well again.

No idea what it'll run at with a full park, but High / Ultra (with the occasional Medium) seems to be very possible for me thus far, so your assessment was pretty accurate [big grin]

I wouldn't agree that my computer is GPU-limited really...with most games at least. As mentioned, I have not played a game I cannot run smoothly on ultra YET (I haven't played Gears of War 4 though [woah]). I could certainly do with upgrading to a 4gb version of my card, but I cannot really afford another £200/£250 right now [pirate].

Hey everyone,

Just downloaded Planet Coaster Beta yesterday... I'm running:

Acer Aspire F5
Windows 10 64-bit
Intel Core i5-4210U with 8192 MB RAM
DirectX12
Intel HD Graphics Family

Instead of getting the opening globe and many other textures, I get black voids. Peeps and textures basically look like shadows. Please help me!

Hi there was just wondering if someone could help me basically I've downloaded the beta and noticed that a lot of the scenery and stuff was blacked out like shadows I contacted support to get some help and they've basically told me that my graphics card is not good enough on my laptop (my specs are below), does anybody have any idea how I can still play the game without buying a new laptop as mines only 10months old or without it costing me the earth baring in mind I'm not fantastic with computers either would be much appreciated!

It looks like your computer does not meet the minimum requirements for Planet Coaster.

Minimum system requirements for Planet Coaster can be found here.

I have Planet Coaster on my Dell Inspiron 15 7000 Series installed. With an Nvidia 960M (8GB) it should work. However, when I launch the game, the menu and all icons in the game are super small. I was playing around by changing the resolution. However, it did not lead to any improvement. The only setting change that works is increasing the size to the largest setting. Yet, I have the feeling the game runs rather slow even when all settings are on the lowest level. Any suggestion how I could improve on that?

I'm planning to get a new laptop and I'm thinking of the new Razer Blade: http://www.razerzone.com/gaming-systems/razer-blade#notebook-desktop

Intel Core i7–6700HQ Quad-Core Processor with Hyper-Threading 2.6GHz / 3.5GHz (Base/Turbo)
NVIDIA GeForce GTX1060 (6GB GDDR5 VRAM)
16 GB dual-channel (DDR4, 2133MHz)

I know it will run Planet Coaster, my question is how will it run a big park with a lot of guests? Razer is offering an eGPU device called Razer Core to use better graphic cards. Will bigger parks run better then or is it more a CPU thing?

Thanks for any help!

Hi guys,
I have a laptop with Win10, core i7 4720HQ @ 2.6GHz, 8GB RAM and a GTX950 graphic card and the game works perfect with no lagging !

I have the same laptop and it runs fine for me. Is it an i7 or an i5 core. That could make a difference. However if it's the i7 it might be worth contacting frontier support to see what they say. Finally are you playing the game with the laptop plugged in as this can reduce the gaming performance if not.

Hope this helped

H, long time Lurker and i finally want to get the game, dont think i can run it though, can someone check please..before i spend 1200 quid on a new pc! (probably will need to soon anyway)

Just a quick question to see where my bottle neck is with this game

Processor i5 3570 quad core (3.4GHz)
RAM 8gb
GeForce GTX 650 ti

On a large park with guests getting around 10 to 15fps and would like to boost that (at the moment the game also constantly crashes but hoping that is beta bugs and not my rig).

Any advice welcome
