The "Can I Run Planet Coaster" thread

Ok So I finally pulled the trigger and got a desktop that I am happy about, now I am trying to figure out what monitor to get. keep in mind that I have been on a laptop since like 2006 so not to familiar with the latest gaming experience on monitors . Anyone have a preference on whether to get an IPS or TN monitor that is best for planet coaster? Is 1000:1 good contrast? Would a 1ms response time compared to a 5ms response time matter for a sim game like planet coaster? Which connection is best display port or HDMI? Any input would be helpful, keep in mind this will be at 60hz. Thanks.
Go for an IPS display if you can, better viewing angles and better colour, it makes a world of difference in a bright and colourful game like this!

My laptop which I got new last year has an IPS display. It's an HP 15-ab222tx laptop which has a 6th gen i5-6200U Windows 10 and AMD R7 M360. The display is anti-glare (doesn't reflect like a mirror in bright sunlight, shweet and is 1080p display).
I also got my 1st custom desktop PC earlier this year which has an i7-6700k and Sapphire AMD R9 390. My desktop system is capable of playing this game on high 1080p settings. Everyone is running into fps issues, even with good rigs, only because this game is by far, not optimized. Beta or full version of this game, both due out this month, should see a big improvement when they optimize the game. It's probably why the "recommended specs" are SO high.
These are the official system requirements. You can also compare search on Google between what sort of CPU/GPU/amount of system RAM you have, with what is listed on the system requirements. System requirements are subject to change, especially when you have the Beta and Full Versions of this game both coming out this month.

8 GB DDR3 (I plan to go up to 16gb later in the year)

No, you need to upgrade. Your GPU is too old, weak, and doesn't support newer graphics APIs Planet Coaster is likely leveraging. Also, your CPU and RAM are inadequate too. Your GPU probably won't even support minimal visuals, and your CPU will choke the moment a guest enters the park. Your HDD will thrash given that small amount of RAM.
Upgrade is absolutely necessary. You can check back here with proposed specs for an new machine to see what we think. If money is tight then consider one of those little NUC-sized gaming computers graphics card manufacturers have been putting out with Nvidia 10x0 or AMD 4x0 graphics.
Yes, this will be the one. You will be running at Low to Medium settings. It will run, but it might not run well enough for you. You'll have to try the game to find out. Your computer is very GPU-limited. I would advocate for a GPU upgrade before the RAM upgrade. 16GBs is nice, but getting something newer and better than that 760 is more important. See how the game runs on your 760 before deciding if you need to upgrade to a 480, 470, 1060, or 1050. Jumping from 8GB to 16GB of RAM will not make the impact a GPU upgrade will.

I have a i5 4690k not OC, a GeForce 970ti and 8GB of RAM. Not sure if it will make a difference but using a SSD (only guess it will help load times).
I am hoping I can play mostly on high, I don't mind sacrificing shadow quality or things like bloom or need maxed anti-aliasing settings . Don't need 60-70 fps, but don't want it sluggish. 40-50 fps would probably be fine. How much can you customize the graphics settings?

You'll be fine. You'll be at a mixture of Medium and mostly High settings. You will find customization options in line with what you just described. No worries. Game will run well for you. [big grin]
I have a ultrawide 2560 x 1080 screen, and need a new card to run this game. What would be the best choice for 300 euro max ?
Your choices are an Nvidia gtx1060 6gb or an amd rx480 8gb.
I just loaded up a full park I have for testing and the FPS is marginally better, cant even hit 20 FPS.
I'm disappointed they didn't address this and not surprised being that nobody addressed the issue on this message board or on the live streams.

Thanks. I don't know much about graphics, but i read some games are more optimized for Nvidia, and some are more for AMD. With Planet Coaster in focus on my system, is there one of them to prefer ?
