The circle of madness

For one moment just go into yourself and imagine why and how David Braben, would deliberately destroy his own legacy, and the one thing he dedicated his lifetime to, just to make some of you users mad?
Maybe simply because they don't know what they are doing? Maybe because they don't even play their game? I don't know.
All I know is that they are doing the best they can to enrage players, especially long time elite fans.

It is beyond comprehension how this company is releasing software without even the most basic testing. It is beyond comprehension how they release software and resurface bugs that have been fixed a [very] long time ago. It is beyond comprehension how they mess up in the same areas (missions for example, in-ship coriolis station hologram - yes, it is bugged again) all over again on EVERY new update/dlc.

I mean Odyssey release was no different from all previous ones. Same old story. Unfortunately.

Lol. The demographics of single thread evaluation, and how they reflect the current situation of madness. I love it.

I agree with not attacking...
That was actually a very good read. Though I do not necessarily believe all managers are psychopath's by nature. I know my boss isn't, and he's managing about 60 employees.

If you went cycling before posting you would probably spared us and yourself from putting out your rather bizzare post.
Did you know Pedersoli, before he became known as Bud Spencer, was getting up early at 4 o'clock in the morning, to forward 6-7 hours of cycling before he got to the pool for his swim training daily? The guy was a endurance machine, frequently outperforming his team mates, and a couple of professionell cyclists of this time. Which makes it actually a kind of affront, that a user misusing his image who is prolly challenged by getting up from his game chair, to go to the kitchen to grab a beer, and a frying pan of beacon and beans, just to dwell in his flatulent odour in an anthem to 80's character cosplay.

Also, base endurance, for me that is easy effort doing 4-6 hours in heart rate zone 130-140 bpm. That effort for you is the aforementioned kitchen challenge. So no, I'm not tired when I come home from a tour, as you can witness by my continuous influx of drivel.

I agree with the thesis statement overall...
The British stereotyping was ment entirely positive in respect to that culture. It's not so common in my country to have a lot of love for the island dwellers...I often wish more people around the world would act like brits...there's nothing wrong with being reserved and rational.

And if perchance I have offended, click "report" and all is mended!

Why would I do that? I stopped reading at nonsense. I don't read opinions that disagree with my own, because most of the the time they are rather infantil when in strong opposition.

As for the OP, I don't really understand the purpose of these 'kumbaya' posts...
See? I told you Obi Wan is the real master. He got one thing wrong though. It's more like "here child, have a pat on your back, I know they didn't put enough sugar on your sweet roll, the next one's going to be more tasty".

Instead of worrying about what others say or think about Odyssey on these forums why not just go play the game and enjoy yourself while letting others do their thing? It seems you really have a passion for this game, like most of us here. People simply react differently to the things they enjoy, especially when said thing isn't faring too well.
I stated multiple times I'm unrealistically optimistic. I never stated I'm an idiot. That's why I was outwaiting the patching of the last couple of days to move to my new "man cave", in preparation for the one game that finally, after a long search, came to replace the throne of my "continously playing" favorite, Skyrim.

Im good without any additional advice from any additional randos on how to react to the game launch, thanks. Ill determine my own emotional state, critical analysis, and ultimately the conclusion of my business with Frontier. The posts and comments attempting to teach and direct people to different, more pleasant reactions to what happened here are not necessary. Appreciate your attention to this matter before you set out on your <coughs and pats glutes> 100k ride.

And he's already insulting again in every other sentence, but tells the people

"Why would I do that? I stopped reading at nonsense. I don't read opinions that disagree with my own, because most of the the time they are rather infantil when in strong opposition."

So he just ignores everything contrary to his worldview and stays in his bubble. But who cares, to everyone their own, I would say.
I don't need to go on the internet, tell strangers how wonderful I am :)

Some are outraged, and just want their sweet roll, acting like a baby just because they're getting all emotional. Rage won't change a thing, it will just fuel the circle of madness.
You are fueling the circle of madness, dude. You seem more emotional that people are upset than the people who are upset are actually upset (confusing, I know), and they lost* 40 plus dollars! Now if you pay each of us $40 to be happy and only say good things about Elite Dangerous, then you can be upset that you're not getting what you paid for.

I mean, seriously, you are trying WAY too hard, and it's backfiring horribly. Circle of madness, indeed.

* yes, I know, if Frontier fixes things then that loss is temporary.

I ask myself this question since the 19th of this month, yet here we are.

Edit: He did not want to make us mad, he was indifferent to how the userbase will react and put money over customer satisfaction.
That's not something that warrants "the other cheek" attitude.

Nobody is trying to villainize the gamers who decided to tolerate all the issues and just enjoy the game.

The problem most of us have is with these white knights who come to the forums to try to TELL us that WE are the ones who are wrong for pointing out the flaws and that we should be HAPPY with what we are given, as if the only "reasonable" reaction to EDO is unbridled joy and anything less is heresy.

Getting tired of all these "guys stop looking at all the bad things, it just makes the game look bad" threads.

We get s*** content if we add to the circle of madness. We get decent content if we start to act decent and patient.

The issue that caused EDO's dumpster flop, which is FD ignoring bugs and player suggestions while not communicating at all and releasing unfinished content, has been going on for years. Years. Despite people constantly saying it was an issue

But if we had just gone quiet, they would have changed course. Yeah, believable!

FD has been too insular to care for years, and now they are lying in the bed they made.

Holy F#$%#$% lol'd so bad - POST OF THE WEEK!

It's the circle of madness.
Nah, it's the cycle of grief. You are at denial.
I get it. Some of the users are younger than me. Some are used to different philosophies than me. Some are outraged, and just want their sweet roll, acting like a baby just because they're getting all emotional. Rage won't change a thing, it will just fuel the circle of madness. And if you add to that circle, all you do is biting your own bottom. You cut your own flesh. That's not only unproductive, it's plain stu***, unless you're a masochist.
1/I can't bit my own bottom.
2/throwing ad hominem around is sure going to help

Why...the...f...would...he...do...that? I mean, maybe he can answer that personally, but he isn't a masochist, is he?
Let's stop there for a minute.
In 2012, Braben is a dev with a near brankuptcy company and a dream. Today, 2021, Braben is the CEO of a successful company, that generates millions from several popular licenses. Hundreds of people works for him. He has shareholders.
2021 Braben literally pushed a DLC from alpha to release, just so the sales would count in the yearly financials that happened to be a few days later. He is a CEO and doing bean's pushing to make sure his hundreds of employees keep a job, and his company is growing. That's more important than it's "baby".

So please stop with the Lord Braben the man with a vision and his baby Elite nonsense. It's been 9 years since the kickstarter, Frontier changed. He changed. Welcome to a successful carrier.

Memory’s so treacherous. One moment you’re lost in a carnival of delights, with poignant childhood aromas, the flashing neon of puberty, all that sentimental candy-floss …

The next, it leads you somewhere you don’t want to go…

…somewhere dark and cold, filled with the damp, ambiguous shapes of things you’d hoped were forgotten..

Memories can be vile, repulsive little brutes. Like children, I suppose. HAHA.

But can we live without them? Memories are what our reason is based upon. If we cannot face them, we deny reason itself!

Although why not? We aren’t contractually tied down to rationality!

There is no sanity clause!

So when you find yourself locked onto an unpleasant train of thought, heading for the places in your past where the screaming is unbearable, remember there’s always madness!

Madness is the emergency exit…

You can just step outside, and close the door on all those dreadful things that happened. You can lock them away… FOREVER.

Not sure. Might be more from the US. And plenty of Germans, because you know, they have a thing for space games. And farming games... but we don't talk about that.
Let's keep us Germans out of the picture :D

Yeah, lots of British and German peeps on this side of the "pond" but no idea where the majority comes from.

TL;DR for everyone else: Soy latte sipping cyclist pedals on into the forums on his custom crotch fitted bicycle as if he is terribly lost, talks down to everyone on his apple macbook pro, attempts to juxtaposition behind a theme of positivity, insists he's just too mature to be upset, then hilariously tries to draw parallels between the real world and star wars. Oh and the final punchline is being casually, condescendingly racist towards our breton friends.

Goodness wouldn't it just make a lot of sense if this were a project manager at fdev.

Profit is the reason, and DB likely, as in most corporations is a figurehead that keeps his position at the approval of the board, the shareholders, and the marketing droids.
So i doubt DB was personally responsible. Odyessy, the malformed offspring of financial expedience that it is, looks and plays the way it does because of greed.
But hey, if it runs on Daves toaster, lets all just be happy :)
