The CODE messing with Yum Kamcabi system and the CG

I must say I am confused by the responses here - unless all respondents are pirates themselves.
Why wouldn't/couldn't/shouldn't someone organize a counter-pirate action?
...

I think the problem isnt OPs suggestion of starting a counter attack, its more the way he formulated it...

...We have the code ruining the CG by unfairly interdicting people...

Im totally fine with the idea itself but when a post starts with *whinecrysalt* for NO REASON it didnt tend to appeal me that much ;)

Commander biscuit i do agree, but the entire premise of piracy is not fair. Even if one ship turned up it would always be an unfair match. No pirate in his right mind would turn up in a trade fit ship trying to pirate a trader. It will be well armed and defenced(shields etc) to win the piracy attempt. The best piracy imo is the one where you dont have to fire a shot, when a wing of say 3-tes jump you and demand a cargo dump or you just leave the system. Overwhelming statement of force is a valid tactic.
The end of the day, piracy in its entire profession is never going to be fair. The way the op out his op to me sounded as if the way they were pirating was unfair, when infact its probably one of the fairer / just / moral (as can be for that profession) way they could go about it, they gave warnings and/or demanded cargo dumps.

We can go on about how the entire profession of piracy is unfair or immoral etc, but to me how the first post was written suggested that these pirates were being unfair by the tactics they were employing, which just isnt so, hence my replies.

I can't think of a really good analogy, but if you have a midget vs a heavyweight boxer (or multiple heavyweight boxers in a group) that might be considered unfair. I think op is using the word unfair in the traditional meaning of the word, rather than the new meaning which is apparently analogous to invalid.

I think i get your point but... isnt "fair piracy" somehow contradictory?

edit: Ninjad (again :D )... way better explained though ^^

I don't think op or myself ever argued that pirates shouldn't be doing unfair things. He just asked for backup to even things up. Now people are confused and having a debate about the validity of piracy which is a whole other subject and derailing this topic.

Tough, the op could have easily just posted a thread asking for cmdrs to help keep the system clear of pirates, but instead added in the unfair portion of his post and topic title. It was his fault for loading the topic title and post.

A better analogy would be if the two boxers had a scheduled match, and while one trained, the other sat on his couch, stuffed his face with twinkies, and played Elite. Then, when he gets stomped people cry that it wasn't fair. In the game, the tools to defend yourself efffectively are there for everyone to use, if some decide to not do so that doesn't make it unfair.

So, we have a problem at this point in time. We have the code ruining the CG by unfairly interdicting people, and either ending them or forcing them to drop their stuff with the threats of killing them. I myself am sick of this and would like to get a group of strong players to run them out. Who would like to join me?

Um... that sounds like pirating. Go Code! We need more of that in the galaxy, not less. That's awesome. Wish I were there.

I don't see they are doing anything wrong. Piracy - It's part of the game - whatever form it takes. Just as long as it isn't grieving - which doesn't sound like it is.

You can always go into a private or solo group.

I don't know why people keep using the term blockade as far as I know no actual faction has said anything about a blockade now if you're talking about people pretending then well that's and shouldn't be taken seriously at all. That's like an Imperal wannbe flying into Sol and announcing Sol is now being blockaded that'd be a joke just like this whole pretend blockade is.

As am I .. it's as if the people responding lack the intelligence to comprehend the OPs message, or perhaps see what they want to see and respond to that instead

To OP : I can't join you, but good luck in gathering a posse to give them Pirate dogs some whippings!

yeah i got a friend with another conda and made the cutter, clipper, and FDL all run out of the system. They called us es for bringing the cops when they attacked type 6's and 7s with all 3 of them

The one thing I find funny about the matter...
From a roleplaying perspective those pirates even act as the very very veeeeeery worst of their kind! I mean, Mrs. Halsey announced that she intended to get a CENTER FOR WAR REFUGEES built in Yum Kamcabi... and among all possible targets in inhabited space, the pirates chose this one.
Really? Driving away humanitarian aid workers? Strange that these players act it out like that...

Cutting out the roleplaying part,
I've been there today, had to cope with the odd interdiction, intent to rob me was announced, so nothing out of the ordinary...

Haggis McMoose,
over and out

I think people are expecting this to be the same rehashed thread about piracy is evil etc

But it's not and that seems to have gone over a few heads

- - - Updated - - -

I've been their for about 4 days and have had only seen one or two pirates around. One of which made the mistake of trying to rob a friend of mine. Had the pirate not of high waked he would of had more then just heat damage to deal with.

Hey was that you! Tell your freind he should be grateful I let him leave alive. I really should have killed him, trying to play stupid like that.

Quite enjoyed that battle, even if you did have a wing of sys authority on your side and your puny freind in his icourier lol

I believe the waters are a bit muddled here, and people are talking like there's one group out there doing one thing.

13th Legion has announced a blockade of the CG, because they don't believe Halsey is being truthful about it being done to establish a rehabilitation centre for war refugees. This is based in a large part on the materials being asked for if I understand it correctly. So, they are completely blocking the CG and will try to refuse anyone to deliver materials to the station. They will also announce this prior to interdicting anyone, giving everybody a choice to either push through or leave of their own will.

The CODE however, are straight up pirates. They will interdict you, demand a part of your haul, and if you comply they will let you continue. Some will even escort you to the station afterwards.

Other groups out there will however interdict and kill you just because they can. If they do this, they should not belong to either of the groups above. From what I have seen, it seems that most other groups try to fight the 13th and will focus on this. If no member of the 13th is in the instance, some of them may however turn to their usual antics of blowing up traders for lulz. Nothing new.

Hope that clears it up a bit.

And I am all for people joining up and fighting back. I think the other side would like that as well. May I suggest talking to AA (no, not the 12-steppers!) and see if they have anything going on there where you can help. Or just get a few guys together and run escort missions.

PS: And for those confused about the responses the OP got; read his post again slowly. It does not read "Let's get together and have some fun".

Part in bold green is a call to arms, not for a discussion on piracy.

It's my understanding that this is exactly how the game is supposed to be played. OP wants to do something about it, whines less than others but he still didn't word it well enough [rolleyes]. Nothing against the pirates or blockade but I could use some action.
To OP: Send me a PM.
