General / Off-Topic The Covid vaccine must be mandatory ?

The vaccine rollout has been so successful the backlog of people who were not seen throughout lockdown for non-urgent stuff is starting to be tackled. There are millions of people waiting though. The e-mail system is your best bet for routine stuff and we are in this for the long haul, it wont be cleared quickly it's a herculean task.

I fixed my diabetes through diet and exercise which under usual circumstances would mean regular checkups and blood testing to make sure I was getting it right and keeping on top of it over time. Without GP access I've DIY'd it all along with a home test kit and the internet. Pretty successfully so far though I had a really bad patch when I lost so much body fat I had to increase my diet as I started to dip which is the opposite end of the blood sugar spectrum and caught me by surprise as I couldn't recognise the feel.

On the bright side I've reintroduced junk food (in moderation) :D (y) .
Emails are not working at my docs, most of the time. My doc is 5 minutes walk away and the only way to make contact, is to go and wait for someone to come out and ask you to leave. Then, you can book a phone call.

The NHS back log is a nightmare. I'll stick with what I have said before. The NHS was given the impression that they could start working on the back-log, back in April and they were offering people appointments. Which they have now had to cancel, as Covid related admissions, are still an issue.

Clearing the backlog is situational rather than date driven. We need to see how things pan out with the delta variant, which is great so far and hopefully will stay that way.

For vaccinated people anyway.

Great?

Cases rising at approximately 500+ per day. 90% are the Delta variant.

UK preprint data looks good:
data, published as a preprint on Friday without having been peer-reviewed, showed that among just over 52,000 hospitalised COVID-19 patients studied, 526 had been vaccinated with a first dose of either the AstraZeneca or Pfizer shot at least three weeks earlier. Of those, 113 died.

The vast majority of the post-vaccination COVID-19 cases and fatalities were among vulnerable, elderly people, the researchers said.
-Reuters report.

1/100 vaccinated compared to 99/100 unvaccinated get hospitalized.
Roughly 20% died of the vaccinated group. That is 2/1000 sick, composed of the elderly and frail.

With just ONE dose of the vaccines.

Reality continues to crush fear.

Interesting thing happening in Pakistan.

The civil servants that refuse vaccines, will not be paid.

Moves are being made to cut off mobile phones, of those in the general public, who refuse the vaccine.

Not sure how they can come up with the 99/100 unvaccinated get hospitalised, number. Or the 1/100, for that matter.

Taking into account the asymptomatic, they don't know, how many have been infected, do they?

Strange that a news agency like Reuters, would come up with such random numbers. Unless they were quoting a UK gov source?

Considering the financial cost imposed on the country by vaccination failure, maybe those people ought to be charged additional taxes too.

The math:
526 vaccinated ÷ 52000 hospitalized is about 1%. I did that math, all errors are mine.

Logically: They are talking percentages. 1 in a 100, people going to hospital, have been vaccinated. 99 have not. I would say that those figures, are for those who have had both vaccines and they don't want to count the ones that have had only one jab.

See for yourself.

I find the dispute between Pakistan and India much more interesting concerning the India's request for the protected geographical indication for the basmati rice.

For the rest I am not surprised that the beast is still moving.

According to the latest data from Public Health France, the OAZ vaccine, reserved for over 55s in France, only represents 0.3% of the first daily injections.

😷

In France the volunteers for the vaccination begins to decline.

The United States, the United Kingdom, Israel, countries more advanced than France in their vaccination campaigns, are already facing this decline since the beginning of May. Due in particular to an incompressible segment of the population that refuses or hesitates to be vaccinated, the vaccination campaign is slowing down and the coverage, particularly of seniors, is progressing less and less in these countries. However, no country has yet adopted compulsory vaccination to overcome these resistances.

😷

The commitment of the G7 countries to distribute one billion doses of anti-Covid vaccine to the poorest countries, via the Covax system, could hide other motivations than just the international solidarity.

The AZ vaccine represents the vast majority of doses distributed to date via the Covax device, 94% of vaccines exactly

This solidarity gesture also allows France to liquidate its stocks of AZ (nearly 2 million doses are piling up in the French refrigerators).

If that is based on their dashboard then it deserves some scrutiny.
For over a week their hospital cases moved little and only over the last 2 days have moved from 867/925/1000+. Reported case numbers do not reflect that.
If the source data is flawed, it carries no merit.
Time will tell though, it always does.
Edit: spelling

That is definitely absolute cobblers. This week the 25-29 age group became eligible for vaccines and the NHS website had its record day for people booking. Over 1 million in a day.
