Well, also worth a video seriesSo I've spent the afternoon recording footage but all it'd do if I released it is go to show how broken things are right now. So I think it best I just leave it until it's fixed. Which is a pity, the game hasn't always been in this state.
I think there was something up with the mission overall so perhaps that stopped the item moving to my pack (the mission target wasn't showing up as a target on the terminal).About the sabotage :
Mission items still automatically go in your backpack. But I've noticed that sometimes directly after disembark the mission objective is marked with 2 red X, arrive at settlement and place item into blah, both 'failed' before I even made a meter on foot. Item still in backpack, but inserting it doesn't update anything....
Well they might have fixed some mission bugs. It just don't help if now the game crashes more often, cause in the end it doesn't matter why a mission fails, bug or crash - it just sucksI think there was something up with the mission overall so perhaps that stopped the item moving to my pack (the mission target wasn't showing up as a target on the terminal).
The mission still "worked" to its conclusion but yeh... blue cobra. Game over.
Honestly, I do not think the missions have been as bad as they are right now. Yes, a small number of mission types just didn't work. And there have always been issues. But of the 9 missions I did today, 5 of them blue cobra'd at some point. I lost count of the times it happened. I did actually finish all but 1 of the missions (the last one being incompletable). But it took me hours. And it wasn't enjoyable.
I honestly have no idea how the CM team can do their game play streams right now, if they do at all. I get it that there are lots of problems. But missions are, essentially, EDO's entire content and the fact it's in its current state several months after launch is baffling. I just don't understand how it's possible these issues are entirely missed at QC stage.
hehe that's the thing, they aren't! They're all at home, using ordinary connections.Well they might have fixed some mission bugs. It just don't help if now the game crashes more often, cause in the end it doesn't matter why a mission fails, bug or crash - it just sucks
Had lucky days with 5/5 completed missions and other days with 1/5 max no matter which patch...
I assume the CM team is allowed to play the game on Braben's 2014 beast to produce their stream![]()
I think that’s the most frustrating thing - it seems broken for some and not for others, and every time there’s an update it fixes it for some, and breaks it for others. Update four was brilliant for me, everything was great. Five dropped, flashlights were broken, missions were broken, and NPCs got massively buffed with eagle vision and sonar. Six dropped, fixed some stuff, but broke other stuff. My performance is now nowhere NEAR what it used to be during update four, and this is with a 5900x and a 3080. (But ironically, not having any blue cobras or anything like that… a few CTDs and hanging black screens, tho)hehe that's the thing, they aren't! They're all at home, using ordinary connections.
It's just so sad. I felt so much buzz about this expansion, despite all the issues, but I just can't bring myself to load it up right now - and this is coming from someone who enjoyed EDO a lot even after launch when it was supposedly in its "worst" state (which it wasn't, in my experience).
Yes, using Apex you'll never get the notification that they know you're coming. The settlement won't turn hostile on approach.I would like to know if there is any way to approach a settlement using stealth techniques (in this case).
This is a really cool workaround and I'm definitely going to mention it in my guide, though I personally wouldn't use Apex on the off chance this may happen (it didn't occur twice in a row for me recording the guide). Still a very useful thing to know.Yes, using Apex you'll never get the notification that they know you're coming. The settlement won't turn hostile on approach.
It's as though you're a paid plant to promote my next guideHello. Sorry in advance if this is not the rigth place to ask for help, but I thinks it's an "stealth" question.
Mison eliminates criminals occupying a settlement. Not illegal. Level 3. No anarchy system. Traveling to the objective I receive a message warning that they await my arrival. As I approach the settlement on the ship, it becomes hostile. The amount of fire received by ground defenses, and ships defending the perimeter is too much. So I have to leave the area, I super cruise, I log out, I log out of the game, jump to other system and come back...but every time I approach the settlement they are still hostile. I would like to know if there is any way to approach a settlement using stealth techniques (in this case). Distance at which to land the ship, if I can get close with a vehicle, distance and best approach, etc. Our playing time it's limited, so I wanna to ask here before spend all mornig firuning how to make it. At the end, I dismissed the mission (I thought it was best to let it go and ask for help in the forums rather than waste time playing).
Has anyone had a similar experience? How did you finished the mission ?
Thanks for answers and help. Stay healthy and stealthyRegards.
I've been using Apex almost exclusively for on-foot missions since Update 5 or so, in my experience it's very consistent. You'll never get a "they know you are coming" and assassination targets never flee (since it would be impossible for you to follow them to a surface POI in an Apex). You won't get the scavenger tip-off either, but that has minimal impact really as the scavengers will still be there or drop in upon arrival, regardless of that message reaching you or not. This is a really cool workaround and I'm definitely going to mention it in my guide, though I personally wouldn't use Apex on the off chance this may happen (it didn't occur twice in a row for me recording the guide). Which missions are those? I mean, I faffed up and made the base hostile which indeed results in Apexes being blasted out of the air by system security, but I haven't had any missions which made the base go hostile by default. The only situation (and probably a bug anyway) that comes to mind is stealing a power generator and having system security blow you up for "trespassing".The only downside of Apex is on missions where they land inside bases with lots of defences and you have a mission that makes the base hostile- the Apex will often get killed by the base defences / ships when you try and take off (they don't boost away).
In most cases you can run away from the base before calling the taxi - as that avoids the defences, but even then patrolling ships can take you out. One time my Apex got away with 1% hull - that counted as success![]()
Yeh it's cool but I suppose I just see that as circumventing game design when I'm actually OK to take on those challenges (although the target flee is annoying when they flee to a jurisdiction that results in a bounty/penalty even though the target has a bounty - but it's a minor issue when you can clean it easily). Still though, it's another way to play that's legit.I've been using Apex almost exclusively for on-foot missions since Update 5 or so, in my experience it's very consistent. Another additional benefit of course is that you will never get interdicted, regardless of bounties or notoriety. The only things stopping you from landing at a settlement is Hostile reputation or an active CZ.
Not circumventing anything or avoiding any challenges, I started using Apex because I'm lazy and it keeps my hands free during the supercruise rides. Not my fault they never tested Apex properly themselves, you can clearly tell from simple stuff as apparently not having any reputation with a faction (white radar icons, etc.) when you land somewhere or the propensity of the pilot to just keep slamming into dwarve stars when jumping systems.Yeh it's cool but I suppose I just see that as circumventing game design when I'm actually OK to take on those challenges (although the target flee is annoying when they flee to a jurisdiction that results in a bounty/penalty even though the target has a bounty - but it's a minor issue when you can clean it easily). I've done a bunch of these. I come in fast and low, and park 400m outside the base. If I get there before the dropships, they (usually) don't see me and aggro. I sit in my ship until I see if they aggro. If not, I get out and do the mission on foot as usual. If they do see me and come after the ship, I fly off and relocate to the far side of the base. They then search for a while but can't find me, and I'm good to go again.Lvl 3 eliminate criminals from a settlement > Message they know you're comming > It will be possible to use silent mode to enter perimeter base without turning them hostile
