For us Rifters, the one in the Heart nebula is especially helpful... at least for repair/restock services
The reason I am curious about when Drew said look to the skies, is that I was wondering if he meant in RL. As in was there a particular meteor shower at that time? Was is also the same time Salome was going on about not being late? If there was a shower at that time, where did it emanate from in the sky?
Another semi random thought. What if the outposts are not abandoned? What if they are actually yet to be occupied? They came out, dropped beacons, and set up these bases, but for future use?
Lastly, I am currently sat at the Conflux Beta site. I have to say this place is slightly creepy. I'm not sure if it the weird background sound (and occasional other odd sounds), the logs all going on about the strangeness of witchspace or just my imagination, but I felt very odd driving around it, and was quite keep to get back into my Asp.
Link??![]()
No link... info is from Beta, see explanation below if you would like:
was seen it beta in Galaxy map... there's a system with 2500 population. Most likely an asteroid base. From the patch notes, there's 32 such bases in "deep space". small populated systems have been discovered in the GalMap all over the galaxy, usually in or near popular Nebula. From the few that have been reached today, it's always an asteroid base. I visited one such base, and although there was no shipyard or outfitting, there was repair/restock available. That could be handy in deep space if these are dotted all over.
Formidine Rift has an asteroid base in 2.3![]()
Just guessing - that Galnet article about an asteroid that went missing in HIP 16947 - may have been an asteroid base.

Well, no related articles yet - except for the fan made ones. Been through 8 odd systems on the way from Ebana to Reorte, including Tionisla. Will knuckle down for a few more hours tonight.
Perhaps some asteroid bases may have jump drives, like Jaques?
Z...
Did you have to have the asteroid filter on in order to find the base? Ran into a network issue (ticket submitted!) with beta and never got past the start menu!

Don't suppose you hit data points on surface installations to "bypass Galcop, Federation, and Imperial security"?

Those still in Conflux and having Beta access, there is an asteroid prison base that you can access near Eagle's landing:

Dammit, just realized this doesn't have the sector shown at it. It's not hard to find, near Eagle's landing, one jump away, next to that matt of stars in the nebula.
Oh man this is fantastic news... could this be the start of the "Exodus" ???
Nice find Erimus![]()
I actually think this could be bad, depending on whether ship transfer is available too them. If it is just repair, missions and explo sales, then great. My concern is that if there is a shipyard, and transferes allowed, we will have the griefer patrol come over so they can get their jollies transfering their mega fighters to the asteroid so they can splat some unarmed people searching the rift.
