The Formidine Rift - Part 2

So, I just spent 2 days reading all the posts in this thread. Have to say that as a new player, the Formidine Rift Mystery has me hooked. I just purchased Reclemation to read. I'm currently at Kremainn RES Bounty hunting. Once I save up enough credits to buy my next ship, I'll be joining the hunt.
Unfortunately, I'm on Xbox so I won't be running into any of you really.

Seems like most of the action happens outside the game anyway :) I know I spend way more time outside this game reading about it or discussing it than I do in the actual game itself. Probably by a factor of 10 or 20.

Propping up the bar in some coriolis listening to some mad old space dog regale you with his theories about the rift...

Possible nod.

One of the stations in the prism system is named Viete Colony. Francois Viete was a French mathematician but more important to us is that he was the codebreaker to two kings, Cobra MkIII and IV; or maybe it was Henry III and IV... anyway it's worth a read.

I had looked at the star names first letters PRD-S, and wondered why it stuck in my head that way. Hours later realized it was the beginning of the serial number of a card I had a lot of driver problems with over 10 years ago. I guess it's not that.

So the Prism system map is a Viete cipher?

Drew did say EC,P was just a test.

And by the way, that's what I found exploring the rift... https://imgur.com/3ljaV8M

Wow. Interesting...
Any close up screen shots?

Have fun, fly safe. o7

That's a crashed Nav beacon, and it's a human-made artefact that shouldn't really be on that planet at that distance from inhabited space - and FDEV agrees on that and is dialling down human-type PoI's appearing on planet surfaces once you get a certain distance from the Bubble. That's all it is - it's not a significant find :)

Belated thanks to everyone that rep'd my post yesterday (or evening before last depending on TZ). https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=239212&p=3879746&viewfull=1#post3879746

At some level we've counted on Drew to rep posts that were "Right On". It's never been clear whether he rep'd something because it was on the right track, he simply liked the post or if he just liked that somebody noticed something even though it had nothing to do with the Rift. Sadly the forums only display the last 5 reps and when I relogged I could only see 5 of the 15 so for that post I can't tell if:

  1. He repped it and the rep got buried in Frontiers forum mechanism.
  2. He didn't rep it because he didn't see it and now it's already buried under 5 pages of tinfoil
  3. He didn't rep it because it's too correct (seems wildly unlikely)
  4. He didn't rep it because it's wrong
  5. He didn't rep it because FD said 'stop giving rep hints'
  6. He didn't rep it because his cat was sick and just wasn't in a repping mood after cleaning up its donations.

It's like a microcosm of the Rift. Untangling a minor mystery made more complicated by game limitations (forum rep system), confusion, deductive limitations and just possibly an incontinent cat.

Anyway, I'm going to assume it is essentially correct. So far it hasn't led to any clear clue but it's at least got me thinking in different ways and checking new things which is good since the previous ones clearly were not working.

I would agree with conclusion #2 in your original post ;)

Is there a way to check your rep on posts? Can't find any way of doing so, certainly on mobile anyway, even after requesting the desktop version :/
