I'm a bit of a newbie been at it pretty hard for the last couple of weeks. In truth getting bored of the grind this might be right up my alley.
Newbie question time...I know jumpionium lets you have bigger jumps but how to you make/use it.
I am at Sol ATM what would be my first leg of this journey Beagle Point?
How do I get started I have 60 million...90 if I sell my federal ship....I also have a Rum Runner Asp very similar to the couple of builds shown....just looks like I gotta loose the huge cargo bays and my range should be clocking in at 30 ish.....25.5 ATM

An Asp stripped down to its knickers, will do fine.
For Jumponium, you have to collect he materials in your SRV, there are plenty of guides, but the Canonn spreadsheet in my sig will show you planets that have all the right stuff
Collect the Jumponium before you go, and you wont have to take a heavy SRV with you.

Yes. Jumponum boosts are for Horizons only.

But you don't need Horizons to reach Beagle Point, it can be done without Jumponium if you can squeeze at least 34 light years out of your ship. The DSS Beagle was an Asp Explorer with 34.3 LY range if I remember correctly.

(oh, and Beagle Point is 80,000 light years in the opposite direction from the Formidine Rift!) :p

Let's just say there was some serious sh** out there, stuff you wouldn't believe.

There is NOTHING out there man, come and join the Distant Worlds Expedition. You will see it with your own eyes.

So what would be a good station to start out from?

Any. The distance is far enough that starting on the near side vs the far side of the bubble is only a few percent of the total distance to the rift. For myself I hopped into the galaxy map and navigated with keys until I had the RR systems lined up like a scope, used the mouse wheel to pan out a bit and then used the 'w' key to travel forward till I was 1K LY out and plotted a route to that system. By your 2nd way point you'll need to zoom up and out so you're looking down at the galaxy to see where you want to cross the arms. Depending on your ship (I have a 32LY asp) you may just be able to burn straight on, if you're in a shorter jump ship you may have to follow the stars to get across to the next arm. Going in a straight line I found that I had to drift a bit to find a route across.

Just to clarify, you mentioned a trip to Beagle Point in your first post. Is that where you're actually wanting to go? as it has nothing to do with the Formidine Rift, which is at the other side of the galaxy to Beagle :)

If you're talking about a trip to the Formidine Rift, then again, any station is a good starting spot. Just try and take the highest range ship you can as it'll make your crossing of the Rift easier. Check the maps for a rough idea of where the Formidine Bridge is, you should have no trouble crossing it there.

There's a few things you probably don't need there though like a second AFMU unit as you can restock the other if you're taking an SRV. It's highly unlikely you'll need that many weapons too, or a chaff launcher. I've got a single huge pulse laser on my Anaconda, not for defence as such, but in case there's something out there that needs shooting, like the barnacles for instance but in space. If there really is something out there that is so dangerous you'd need all those weapons then you'll likely be toast with just a 3A shield generator before you get a chance to use them. I'd just take a couple of pulses if you really want to be armed and hope there's nothing too unfriendly out there!
Two AFMU can repair each other.

You're right about firepower/shield relation. I completely miss that. Thanks. :)

No I am looking for Xenos,I meant rift...not beagle....like I said Im a newb

"Good luck, and … right on, Commander" copy/pasted

Not quite accurate (being pedantic).
From my Kindle version it is
"Good luck, and ... right on, Commander."
i.e. there is a full stop at the end and I think the three dots are a single elipsis symbol but it is hard to tell.

I was struck that the phrase seemed quite oddly constructed.

Can somebody point me in the right direction of Drews signature with all the dots and commas in it please? Having some trouble finding it.

Cheers,

Gypsy.

It just occurred: Drew has twice used the word 'ahem' in talking about the Rift ('the core of the ...ahem... problem' and 'the truth is ...ahem... out there'). Is there a system called 'ahem'? If it's in the bubble then perhaps there's something on a local Galnet feed? Or is it part of a sector name? I'm not in-game atm to check but it might be a clue...

No dice - sorry. Tried all stations in one and the other two only had 1 station in them. Nothing obvious, just little visited systems with bounty reports and some local news on trade expansion or conflicts.

Of course as they both have ...ahem... it may be a system with ahem in middle of the name - no idea how to search for that though. Is there a wildcard character?

I'm currently stockpiling as many jump mats as I can before I head back out there, it will just make it easier. Last scouting trip out I had 32.3lyr range and it was difficult at best. I am now just under 36lyr range and with the mats it will make a huge difference. I am still taking my SRV's as I feel limited without them and like having the ability to get more if needed. I will be shielded but not armed.

There is indeed, and I am shocked it isnt in my copy/paste. I saw it and considered it important, just must have lost it trying to get rid of the trailing quote
