Hey rifters. Have been following this with interest (both pt1 and 2 threads) - had been planning a trip to the rift for a god six months- anyway - got the Heart and Soul Nebula Friday, and have now joined the RR line and heading 'out' along it in my 35ly conda.
I doubt I will bump into any of you - but if I do - remember to wave

Has anyone visited the stations Kahina toured prior to her disappearance? I'm wondering if there's something in a local news article or mission that has been overlooked.

I'm out in the rift, so not easy for me to go back and check.

I'm actually doing quite the tour right now of systems Lady Kahina visited in the bubble, along with any 'related' systems, following her path and seeing what I can uncover. I'm currently compiling a bit of a journal type document with all the things I'm finding. Already found a few interesting things, but I'm going to keep mum for now until I find anything I think is worth sharing...

If the entomology of her name ends up being an actual clue, I think I will print off the spreadsheet, eat it, poop it out, frame it, and give it to drew in a grand ceremony.
The name was given to her by a random dude, with no connection or even knowledge of the mystery, before the mystery was even mentioned so for it to lead her to her destiny is utterly absurd. She might be imperial, but I don't think she is enough of an egomaniac to think it would be a clue to follow. Even star wars isn't that bad.
I was a little worried when drew said he was a character writer. I have heard that phrase before, and is associated in my mind with authors who's plots make no sense whatsoever, but use it as an excuse. 'if only you were privy to the characters unwritten background, it would all make sense'. I don't think drew is one if them, but i guess we will have to wait and see.

Drew recomended to take a look at the meaning of the name 'Kahina', not Salome.

Kahina is her given name and may give some pointers to her intended role.

The name Salome was chosen by Hassan. If it's more than a cute name for a cat, it would suggest that Hassan has secret plans for Kahina. Something she does not know her self.

It would not surprise me if someone has big plans for her.
She was hailed as a true daughter of the Empire. She went to Avalon to get her upgrades.
She is sent on a pilgrimage to discover something.

The current Empire is rotten to the core. Kahina may play a role in 'fixing' the mess.
She is after all, more of a political character than an explorer.

You make a fair point - however, if Drew based the story of his character "Lady Kahina" on a mythological character - there is no reason why other aspects of that characters story shouldn't be relevant too. I get what you mean about the farfetchedness though

I'm currently doing a bit of a degustation of all the known information we have right now and touring related systems to see if any pieces fall into place. There's definitely some interesting mythological connections - but it remains to be seen if these are any more than an interesting plot point

Just gone back to check out her route within Sol system for you. Checked out her route within Sol system; visited Mars High & Titan City & Abraham Lincoln stations but local news services all go back only to 06Oct3301 (this report was about Tenim Neseva from Reclamation being confirmed as Federation High Commissioner). Asteroid belt correctly shown on system map between Mars & Jupiter but trying to search it (for IRL asteroid named Salome) it seems to be miscoded- it's located within the star! Didn’t land on any moons. There is a Majestic Capital ship (EDIT- it was the REPULSE Farragut class!! Getting confused as I then went to an Imp system & found the ARTEMISIA Majestic class, first time I've seen a capital ship & I get two withiin 30 minutes!) orbiting above Earth. Can't tell you which one 'cos my screenshots apparently haven't been stored. And the local time is definitely incorrect- I'm in the UK &the sun is shining, but in-game it's night over UK.

That was a good read. Regardless, it has been used as a pretty obvious plot device in the story of Lady Kahina, right down to her leaving her 'imperial tiara' (crown) in her 'stripped' ship, the 'seven veils' before departing, and taking on a new identity. Though maybe this was just some of the misdirection Drew warned us about

Thanks... about 1.5k 'up' the R-R line now.. progress not a problem, but definitely thinning..typically only 3-7 stars within 35 ly jump range now.. so think I can say I have probably entered the edges now..

A 25ly cobra would just about make progresses here, but it would very hard and circuitous going..

..and the view back core-wards is quite something.

Was hoping that by heading out and looking back, might see something significant (eg nebulae or dark patches symbolizing the veils, plus something else (eg prominent stat or cluster above or below.. as a nod to the quite of Kahina/Salome 'floating'.. Not been able to see anything yet though..
