Tin foil hat time :D. What if we have to perform a mis-jump in order to get to the right system, as mentioned in Elite: Reclamation book. Imagine hundreds of commanders spinning their ships like crazy before their jump to another system.:D

Can't happen. The auto lockdown when you enter the countdown phase of a jump prevents you from misjumping :( Back in the 80s when I played Elite I had no idea that pulling up on the stick before jumping was what was causing me to encounter all those Thargoid fleets :)

Kitty, be sure to let us know if anything strange occurs, in case you disappear never to be heard from again.

p.s. Don't forget to bring lots of tin foil!

Following the R/R line directly to the Formadine Rift is not possible as far as I could see. I followed it and then could go no further past the Poseidal Wall(?) about 2,800ly from Reorte. I am now in the process of looking for a path to the Perseus Arm across the Wall

What if you have to use an XBox controller and hit Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A in order for it to misjump?!

Commanders, I have finally returned from by survey of the Eastern Beta neutron field. My total earnings from this trip were just over 32 million credits and I jumped from "Scout" to "Ranger".

In celebration I have commissioned my new ship... and finally decided on her name. My I present the Deep Space Exploration Vessel "Ouroboros":

Finally ready to head to the Rift. I'll save my pilgrimage along the R/R line for another trip... I'll be high-tailing it to the Rift.

Bon Voyage! Don't crash!

I need help from fellow Rifters on this. Is someone familiar with noises of planets, moons and especially belt clusters? Right now I'm in a system with three belt clusters - metallic, metal rich and rocky. What caught my attention, was a different noise of the rocky belt - some humming and pulsating noises. The metallic and metal rich belts have the same "theme" as the star field background in the system map. Can someone confirm that this is common thing? I usually listen to the planets and gas giants but never listened to the belt clusters, so I don't know If I have stumbled upon something or not. Heading there now 100k ls to go....

Ah the famous Our Rob Or Ross :D

Dark Gas giants are quite rare. They are usually Blue, Cream/Blue, Brownish, Greenish. So these black ones, you dont usually come across them all that often. This is only my 2nd in around 800 jumps. The first one didn't have any rings, but this one does, and it suddenly struck me as being a dark wheel. I imagine that the reference would be to something that was probably rare. This kind of body maybe a candidate for consideration.

This was my last one.

Does this count? It is literally impossible to get darker than this in ED.

Way on down in PHRIO PHOE AA-A H24. Multiple black hole system. No light apart from a bit on outermost planet.

And many shouts out for the brave explorer I met there - Cmdr Pharoh. He has been out for a full year now. Make sure he gets home.

Ok, nothing special in there....Found another system with rocky belt cluster and the sound is the same.

I am not sure. I guess we will know when we find it. Perhaps the Dark Wheel may refer to ringed black hole, if there is such a beast. Or perhaps a ringed Neutron star.

I am nowhere near the rift, but slowly heading to the outermost spiral in the south west corner of the system. But I still think and muse about these conundrums. I suspect that at some point in the near future it will all be revealed when some lucky commander stumbles upon the answers.

I m currently in between arms as I used NGC7822 as a bridge. I found a nice Jumponium planet OUTORST 2H-Q C19-0 DE1.
You ll find cadmium, germanium, vanadium, but no nobelium (so you will have find some on another planet in that system.

I haven't seen a ringed blackhole... but on my last trip I *thought* I spotted one.

You know those all-black volcano worlds? Well, one of those was between me and the blackhole in a system I jumped to. I naturally targeted the blackhole in the system map and, upon turning to face it... saw a ring system! "Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh! Oh my gosh!" The blackhole was, of course, much further off than the planet was. I of course engaged full speed toward the blackhole thinking it was still a few minutes off. Took my eyes off the game to fill out info in Captain's Log. Got dropped from supercruise at full speed when I came upon the planet. Took 3% hull damage and some major damage to the ship modules. :(

I just found a system with three black holes, not on the line, but not that far when you consider the size of the rift. here is TRADGOI AA-A H0 (Misc sheet). Already discovered, this system is not mentioned anywhere. at least I have found nothing about it. I don't know why, I can not upload a decent screenshot.

Tinfoil: Tradgoi / Targoid, almost an anagram of Thargoid. [alien]

Did anyone notice that not only Drew used " ..." in "Good luck, and ... right on, Commander. (Space before ellipsis)

But Salome did too in Ed's livechat? "You have to prepare blah, blah, blah for x and" ..."?

I think this is a rather good point. Or three points. Kinda like triangulation.

Hrmmmm.

Im going with this one. Obviously we cant call it or them anything but " ..." because they haven't been found yet...

I demand a full investigation of what points we should if we could - triangulate with while I sleep.

I will attempt to dream about it. Nggggggggggggggggggggggggggggggn........................................................ngnnnnn...ngn......nn..................zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. OH! A DRINK! ... .. . . . . . . ..... zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
