The Limit Theory Thread

I could listen to Josh talking LT all day. The depth behind the game is staggering. Great to see the AI coming together and the fleet command looks like it is going to be really slick.

Coming along Nicely ...

I have to say I am really looking forward to this game, almost as much as ED , but not quite ;)

In some ways I'm looking forward to LT more (yeah blasphemy I know...:p), but I love the layered nature, from lone wolf to empire builder. It's the game that Egosoft should have made.

I haven't been following the forums closely for ages but do drop in from time to time. I haven't spotted anything that even alludes to a Beta release date. I had hoped for a series of these since Prototype 1.1 was done but not a sausage sadly.

I see this game as the civilization version of Elite and think the game could really be enjoyed for a very long time. Like others I am also more excited about Elite, but LT is still looking like it could be a really long standing quality, fun and interesting game.

Time to give this thread a bump because it's almost the end of the month. Very excited to see what the boy wonder Josh has been up to this month. From his dev logs he's implementing a lot of the actual meat and bones gameplay so there might well be some very interesting stuff to have a look at.

Quoted from his Sunday dev log:

"So, so close...can we have it before the update? Can we have working, top-level AI, metaprojects, and missions? CAN WE??? Yes. I really think so. But I need more hours. Send me all your hours!!"

So that surely means there's an update in some form coming! Here's hoping anyway I need to hear his relaxing American tones again...

I may be wrong but I thought he said the last one was the last update!

Haha didn't mean to confuse anyone on that, but I think I did :p I said last update that will be a "power of two" - e.g. 4, 8, 16, 32. In other words, the game will be out before update #32 :D (but probably not before #17!)

I haven't been following LT development religiously, if at all, but each time I watch one of these videos, the interface is different, he talks about doing this or that, and yet I get no idea of a timescale in the development or what's happening. Each video seems to be he's changed it.

I'm not following SC either, but at least I know they have a dogfighting module to download.

Just what the heck is happening with LT? Is there a release date yet? Has he stopped constantly changing things and fiddling with it? A true craftsman knows when to stop.

Skimmed through it...will watch it more closely later.

I want to say this though:

@FD You see that starfield? Copy it! Those stars are perfectly sized IMO compared to what we currently can see in ED! ;)

Agreed, and the reduction of lens flair is much appreciated. In fact the planets look very good also, especially in relation to less circumference glow on the night side etc. But yeah definitely worth a look to improve the clarity of the look of space in certain aspects.

Ditto. Does anybody know when he plans to finish it? I'm interested in the game, but have no idea when it will be released (I did not back it on kickstarter).
