Again, you have said that when given the choice people will choose to avoid direct PvP. They would rather engage in objective based PvE than to engage in meaningful PvP. So the vast majority of people do not want to engage in meaningful PvP. I’m fairly certain that’s why you’ll never see a change in modes.

Again, its not about the CHOICE. What part of that do you people not understand? Even I use those modes because its optimal.

This is the point that escapes you. If the masses wanted direct PvP to impose its will upon PP and BGS, then they would play in Open regardless of choice. If people wanted solo/pg removed from PP/BGS then they would play strictly in Open.

There are no mechanical optimizations in solo/pg over Open. For the sake of PP/BGS, people choose PvE objective gameplay while avoiding direct PvP. The masses want to PP/BGS without being directly affected by players, yourself included.

For Open play youd use shields, maybe a SCB or two against someone with premium ammo. Removing cargo space and passenger slots.

Why? Why do you assume that you'd meet someone trying to stop you? Why do you assume that the person trying to stop you would even be able to pull you out of SC?

PVP does mean something there. But that meaning is taken away with those modes because its not optimal to be out there. Knowing you could be stopped. WHO IS GOING TO TAKE THE CHANCE OF BEING STOPPED AGAINST OTHER PEOPLE IF THEY DONT HAVE TO?

People who enjoy PvP. Why do I do trade CGs in Open? Because I enjoy the thrill that I might meet proper pirates and have a fun interaction, and I meet more proper pirates that sad losers with itchy trigger fingers. Maybe that doesn't count as PvP to you though, you probably think it's not PvP unless you're blasting someone else.

As there is absolutely zero indication that 'day' is even being considered let alone that it is 'coming' it could very well be you choking on your own pills.

But don't worry 90's, I can see it now, 9 months from now, PP and BGS are still available in all modes, Frontier add a PVP permit locked system or systems to the game, you will try to spin it and say you got what you wanted all along. It is so clear you are one of 'those people' who cannot admit when you are wrong and that ain't gonna change 9 months from now. So 90's, keep on playing this living nightmare, keep making excuses for yourself and keep believing in the second coming of Elite Dangerous. Reddit can be really good, depends on where you go.

r/jokes and r/funny can be great. Also a good way to start the day.
If you have not heard enough #Brexit talk, then r/UKpolitics and r/UnitedKingdom can top up your #Brexit chat (if it is relevant to you).
I'm currently glued to r/Oculus since I got mine the other week. Some great VR info and suggestions for games.

For the most part the Elite Reddit is okay.
Lots of ships in front of things or "I just got my ..... " and a picture of it on a landing pad.

And of course, r/pcmasterrace is the place to be. Just for the irony and the memes

Ive done it already Agony. Im not happy with its current state. Lots of us arent. Remember there are people happy with it. And some that arent.

But my player group has expanded into 25 systems. Im well aware of how it works, what it takes. And what happens when people attack other player factions. We fight sometimes up to 5 different groups at once. Plus Bots apparently.

If you read my posts, like actually read them instead of trying to counter argue for the sake of it. You would see and know I have the experience and have for quite sometime.

Listening to some in the PvP community would drive PvE players away. Not everyone enjoys PvP.



Observing what might be a Combat Log is not the same thing as proving beyond doubt that it was a Combat Log. Frontier have indicated that detecting Combat Logs to that level of accuracy is non-trivial. Hopefully the karma system will track those who engage in such behaviour and deal with them accordingly.

It's all a bit Me, me , me! though. There's lots of pve stuff, very little PvP.

The karma system has been talked about for longer than the Powerplay open bonus.

The lack of PvP stuff might reflect the size of the PvP subset of the community - after all, Frontier are known for basing development priorities on the uptake of features.

The lack of PvP stuff might also reflect Frontier's attitude to PvP in general - which seems to be that PvP simply occurs when a player attacks / is attacked by another player instead of an NPC.

If the karma system has been talked about for longer then, from memory, not by much. Although Sandro did start talking about enhanced consequences for PvP kills quite some time ago - which was when I first began to suspect that Open might, in Frontier's view, have a population problem that they would need to address.

Plus, the karma system is still mentioned by the Devs, unlike the briefly mused Open play bonus for PowerPlay.
