Yeah definitely something odd.
10.6 ly so not over range, the message was insufficient fuel, not fuel usage would exceed x.xx tons which is the jump out of range message
Fuel showed sufficient levels past the blue indicator

Drama aside, I'm a bit confused about the blue bit on the fuel indicator.

But...

A silent combat FdL has a max jump rang of about 11 or so LY.

He knew this hence picking a target system 10.7LY away.

With the FdL's tiny 8T fuel tank, you need about a third of a tank to do that jump, it looks like he was just under that so yes I think literally "insufficient fuel" and not a bug?

Obviously the right thing would have been to retarget one of the closer systems.

I still have no idea what the blue shaded area on the fuel tank means though! Maybe it could be how much fuel you're missing? Though you'd think they'd colour it red or something if that were it?

He had insufficient fuel and refused to fight and call his wing for backup. In this instance, I fail to see the difference.

Completely agree, and then lamenting that he's not able to go into Mobius anymore....

He is using a very small fuel tank from what I can see, there are only 2 | separation lines which last I checked means a (and I just checked a video of stock fdl, stock fdl has 11 (so 12 fuel 'cells')), that he is using a 1C fuel tank? 3 fuel 'cells? maybe 4?, just not easy to see from video quality, that is nearly drained?
Look at Z4's other videos he's got videos of him fighting solo against more than 4 of those guys.
Noted will look.

Ahh the fuel indicators show less than stock?

So no bug then, literally a "legal logout".

.. it indicates the amount of fuel required to make the selected jump :)

Sure but in the video he had "insufficient fuel" so what does it mean in that context?

Has everyone FORGOTTEN how to use the FSD ????

He PANIKED !!!

He selected that system in a hurry .... had he selected it the way he should and used the SELECTING OF ROUTE button he would have realized that according to the weight of his equipment and weaponry and SCB and so on and so on ..... the flight computer would have most likely routed him to 4LY 6LY or even 8Ly system 1st and not directly that 10.6ly system ..... its not even a bug .. it just sometimes happens.
And to be fair it happens most often with ships like the FDL .... particularly when Combat pilots select lower class frame shift drives to weight/power ration other combat equipment while they patrol one system. And SOMETIMES ... and only rarely .... you cannot select the next system directly but you are forced to use the ROUTING computer option.

ALL things a well know PIRATE would and SHOULD know quite well.

He is using less the stock in terms of fuel storage, 1C? smallest tank possible?

So yeah, I don't know if he panicked, he seemed rather laughing at the situation well knowing he would use that to get away.

Nothing to see here, 15s menu exit is totally legit, remember?

Didn't you all laugh when told that those stupid 15s prevent bounty hunters from doing their job just as much as they prevent pirates from 'griefing' you?

I think that is the point of what is to see, he has been very so much against that being allowed by Frontier, and then they use it themselves?

I don't know if others laughed, I've always been against combat logging legal or not, because it is avoiding 'bad' things, but bad things a part of games, in fact without them a lot of games quickly become boring if you ask me.
But yeah I do believe the main point is that they were so very much against this being allowed by Frontier, so when they themselves use it....yeah..

And this is the reason combat logging should disappear from this game. If you get aggro from another human player your ship should stay in space even if you "lose" connection.
For the people who say: my internet connection is bad, your internet connection is fine, you have problems only when you are in trouble.
If it's not possible to enforce this because of p2p architecture, please FD ban to solo only, for at least a week the offender, and in this way you help the commander to choose the game mode he really likes. Repeated offenders, increased ban time.

Can't explain it tbh.. re-watched the video and by rights shoulda been able to make the jump.. unless I'm missing something..!?!

no he was too low on fuel, basicly didn't have the fuel to make a 10.8 in a single jump like he tried.

Logged out using menu: Whilst in the eyes not in the spirit of the game, it's not combat logging.

Goose its more than SDC themselves class that method of logging out as combat logging in their eyes.

He is using a very small fuel tank, significantly smaller then standard which has 12 cells, video looks to have 3?4? cells, so a 1C? 2 tons of fuel only.

He's in an FdL with a smaller than stock fuel tank (probably 4t or less), there's no way he could have made that jump with a third of a tank.

An 8t stock tank on an FdL would take a third of a tank to jump ~11LY, so with 4T he'd need around 2/3 of a tank. Given he was at a third I'm guessing he'd already made 1 ~11LY jump.

So anyway it is genuinely "insufficient fuel" I think. But you see a (very small) blue area appears when he selects the system, is confusing what that means.
