You can get HOTAS (Thrustmaster at least) to work with NMS using x360ce. It works quite well. There are profiles out there already. You MUST rename the xinput DLL that x360ce drops though to xinput9_1_0.dll.
I've heard that you can't bind a roll axis, though? If roll is only possible by holding a button, that's pretty much a killer.
If all the axes can be bound separately, I might be willing to try using a software solution to set it up.

The flight in NMS is so basic that a HOTAS would be completely useless. You can't crash, you can't yaw (only roll into yaw, as the two are connected), the ship auto levels, auto lands and is generally not fun to fly. Which is a shame, I must admit! Would have provided a nice added bit of depth to the game, and made space combat a bit more fun than it is
By the way, tip to all, don't go the completionist route like I did and grind out full inventory slots and ships on the first few planets, I'm now a little lost as to what to doMaking my way towards the galaxy, trying to find a black hole to take a shortcut or two, but stuff is starting to seem a bit "samey" now.
Finally found a snowplanet though, looks nice!![]()
Wow, that's even worse than I'd heard.
Oh, well. Too bad. I would have gladly given it a shot if it had good flight mechanics.
