Game Discussions The No Man's Sky Thread

Interesting, there was a rumour of PC release at the same time. Looks like that may not be the case.
.
Also its a little further out than I expected 'June 16', but welcomed just the same. Only its the PC version I'll be playing, when it arrives. :)

I hope there is a lot more to the game than what they show. At the moment the game looks impressively dull.

This is also one of my worries. One that Pre-Ordered Starbound that has a very similar tech in the way PG works will all planets you explore, etc... The way everything is unique and pretty to explore, after a while it turned out the gameplay got very repetitive.

I hope NMS won't have this problem, one impressive PG engine and one repetitive gameplay, but we will only get to know that once we play it for a while.

I've not been impressed by gameplay they've shown, but Hello did make Joe Danger. Quite happy to give them benefit of the doubt on that basis.

I'm still on the fence with NMS. I really want to like it but it's just not grabbing me and the graphical style is actively off-putting. Yes, I do understand where they are coming from with the whole retro SF artwork thing - it's perfectly valid, but I just don't like it. This is one game where I'll definitely be waiting until post-release and some positive player reviews before getting involved.

Doesn't seem like they are going for ANY amount of science or realism so its hard to compare. Don't get me wrong I'm excited for no mans sky, but its gonna be far from a sim experience.

I'm looking forward to this game very much. Although it looks like the love-child of Infinity: Battlescape and Spore.

I'm just a little concerned if the graphics will give me acid flashbacks

In terms of geology/terrain and views from orbit then ED have already surpassed NMS (or any other procedural planet engine) by a huge margin. There isn't even a competition there...

If the question is if ED will have vegetation, atmosphere and wildlife implemented, then no. But WHEN that comes they will once again be on a different level.

I dont mean that type of style as in nms, but at same level of detail.
Its not wrong with some competition in the market :)

And dont take me wrong, I enjoy Elite as is but I also see huge potential of improvement.
So excuse me for pointing out some things I would really like to see improved.

Its just because I care for the game

I agree with you, looks super from space. But when close up as in the latest video it did not look detalied to me. There could be so much more details.

Whatever level of detail NMS has, elite will have more of. Not only will there be planets with vegetation, animals, water and ecosystems, they will be scientifically sound, supported by myriad details you may never notice and visually blow away anything NMS ever hoped to dream of being (graphically).
