The Open Only Incentive

As of now there's no point playing in open unless one wants to. If you don't want PvP/ganking, you just go solo or pg and do everything you can do in open be done with it.
But what if there was something in open that everyone wants but you can only get it if you play open?
Here's my idea:
After 4 weeks of open only playing, you get access to "spice" or call it whatever, that gives you a 100-150% FSD boost. There's a module to store it, it gets used up so it needs refills.
This stuff is mined/milked and sold in only one place in the galaxy, that happens to be an anarchy system with a station/city called something like Mos Eisley. It is Dangerous to go there, but you can hire commanders to wing up and escort you in if you're not so sure of yourself in surrounding systems.
Spice is what makes trade faster, exploration more efficient and moving around combat builds less of a pain. Everyone wants it.

Do You?

No.

I do everything I want to do in solo or a pg now. If I want to fly in open I just don't do it in a highly populated location or one of the starter systems if I have a trade run going there. You'll never get rid of ganking completely but it can be curbed a bit if the rebuy was eliminated for ganking and they got a permanent wanted status put on them with a high credit bounty that followed the commander and not the ship.

Exactly, which is a good thing.

But why?

People can choose to have an SUV, pickup, sedan, sportscar, etc, but for some reason why have to make one particular car in such a way that everyone somehow are enticed or forced to use that particular one and not the other ones, in other words, somehow remove the choice for some unknown reason. What is the reason? Why do we need to make anyone go into open? What's the need?

So who should this be for? Gankers? Victims of Gankers? Who?

So with no crossplay, different time zones, instancing problems, etc, etc, the player base is already VERY divided and unable to see each other, even if they wanted too.

Then we have the tiny issue wit that the game has an ENORMOUS map where players can be, even if all players where only in the bubble, there would be places where to find any other player would be very rare.

So what would the purpose for this be? Because this sounds alot more like a way to get "unprepared" players into open so that you can slaughter them more easily.

I will never play in Open unless they make the much needed Open PvE mode.

Sorry, no additional targets for you, ever. ED just isn't that kind of game.

No inducement will work. Sorry old chap.

PvE Only Mode has been ruled out by the game's founder and CEO. Sorry old chap.

Because many people are scared away from open by people like you.
Like you who fails to see that the choice would still be there, it would make no difference for you in solo/pg whatsoever.

??? I play in open, and it's a valid mode. Doesn't mean that's the mode everyone must play. I'm a supporter of free speech, meaning, I accept that people have different opinions than me and allow them to have them. The same goes for open vs solo and PG, I can appreciate and approve that people have different wants and needs without forcing them into a mode of playing that I prefer. Just because I like a certain kind of food, doesn't mean everyone in the world must eat the same as me.

I'm actually a supporter of all modes and even a supporter of the existence of gankers and griefers in Open. So I'm not sure how you think I'm scaring anyone away from Open. I believe all modes are equally valid, and to force people to choose isn't a way of giving more freedom, unless there is a some reason and argument to WHY this has to happen. So again, what's the need for having people playing in Open?

The choice is there now. To create a system where people can choose between Open and Solo but they have to choose Open, isn't a true choice. It's like Ford's advertising of the Model T. Choose any color you want as long as it's black.

Point it out to me where it says you have to choose it. More risk more rewards, that's all.

xD No offense taken.

Yeah, the players shake in their boots when I'm out exploring in deep space. I might bring a black hole back with me, so watch out! :D

People do read the forums, and made believe that open is the worst place ever when they read posts like yours...and they won't even bother trying.
