The Pioneer Thread

Hiya Geraldine, I see you beat me to it ;)
Btw I changed that package, it (alpha7) can now be installed seperately.

Thanks for the update S20dan  I am still "secretly" hoping that Mr Braben will at least get a chance to look at either one of the videos or, dare I say it, have a wee play through? A comment at least?

Yes that would be nice wouldn't it :) Who knows, maybe he is already on SpaceSimCentral in disguise secretly playing Pioneer :D

cheer up :):):)

tom morton is responsible for the coding of it yes.
for those who didn't know he worked out GL-Frontier.
but i guess after stucking into the same problems as JJFFE, he decided to code pioneer from ground up, only using the same way of a procedural generated universe.

i only gave the rough look of it's basic models a little nicer touch.

promise; i will update my pioneer thread as soon as my models are ready to go for alpha7.

that would be something...

...to see you walking in the rain ;)

who knows, what nickname he would use then?

poppa? last sailor?

yes, he could bluff us all, and acting like he had no idea...
at least i would do so

and laughing off my ASP, i guess i would nearly die of laughter.
not because it's bad no, because we wouldn't know he's present, asking some innocent questions.
well if that would be, then i suspect the most harmless one.
allready i got some in my sight as canditates.

don't forget FFED3D please,
keep some interest in it, would be sad to see it die.
go elite-games and show some interest at least.

btw, FFED3D needs a new dev. i guess.

Dreamzzz

LOL, you might be right there Gernot, but of course we would be leaving ourselves wide open to a hoaxer if that was the case :S If David Braben does show some interest (or even just simple curiosity) in Pioneer, I would rather he would just come right out and say it. Just a comment would mean a lot to the dev team

And yes you are also right about FFE3D, I sincerely hope that project does not die, not after so much good work has been done so far :(

It has always been a dream of mine to have all 3 Elite games remade for modern day with a new Elite IV being the icing on the cake, but as I said only a dream .................................but, I have faith! :D

Alpha 8 & 8.1 & News

Hi Folks :)

Another update for Pioneer.
Alpha 8 has just been released, plus one of the contributors to the project (S2odan) has also finished another update to that, 8.1 :D

Also there has been a change of lead programmer to the project. Tomm is stepping down from the role :(

But John Jordan (of JJFFE fame) is taking over instead! :D. Need I say more? Of course I do. Thanks for all your wonderful work Tomm and glad you will still be involved in Pioneer! :)

Here is a link.

Once more, thou shall worship The Tenth Letter Repeated :D
Wish he'd pick up FFED3D as well!

Now where was I? Oh yes, JJ! JJ! JJ! JJ! JJ! JJ! JJ! :D:D

Oh yes :D To get him onboard is going to be immence, the lads a legend.

Nice one Geraldine for letting us know

Hmm - downloaded and played - Can't say as I like the remake of the pulse laser. It's nigh on impossible to track an enemy with it - shouldn't a laser still be a beamy thing rather than glowing ***** drifting away from your ship? Am I missing something here?

Hyperspace is cool but the endpoint of your jump overlays your ship model in external view when you rotate around it.

I does look great tho.

JJ will be adding many new features in his next update. So new weapons may be a possibility. Guess it is just a question of waiting to see what he comes up with.
