Europe is definitively no example to anyone else in terms of civil unrest. Just look at the rioting, looting and destruction in London 2011, and Paris every odd month for the last couple years...
Yeah, urban metropoles are a clear concern to me...

I don’t need the grid, so no power lose hereCivil unrest can't strike Europe if the power goes out? It's not the wild west here and the vast majority (and by "vast" I mean 99.99% or better) of gun owners are responsible people who cause zero issues and pose no threat to society. The benefits of gun ownership in America dramatically and emphatically outweigh the drawbacks.
See the comment above yours. Having pointed that out: I'm not keeping score, or putting on airs. You might have noticed by now that if someone points out the inadequacies or shortcomings of my home, which lets face it involves acting as if their own home is perfect, I generally respond by setting that particular oversight straight. Not sure what you are referring to, wasn't talking about guns. Merely pointing out the extensive loting that has occured in the US metropoles during relative mild crises. During similar events in the Netherlands and Belgium we did not have anything of the sorts. Then again, we don't really have any cities of that size either, which no doubt brings its own social dynamics. Not particularly looking forward to what will happen in the likes of Mumbai...

I know what happened in US major cities when the power was merely out for a day or two...

@Stigbob there's that "sowing the seeds of unrest and dissension" I was referring to earlier. Really helpful.
You know what would help? If when people like myself call for the heroic in mankind to become the defining factor of the next few months it wasn't immediately mocked and excreted upon by people (you leading the charge) who only want to look at the ugliest part of the human equation. I called for unity and appealed to mankind's better nature and was literally dismissed as engaging in stolen valor. The attitude on display here honestly makes my head spin around in circles.Everybody's moaning about their home countries and generally agreeing about the shortcomings and strengths of each others. Siege mentality doesn't help.

Never underestimate the efficiency of sociofascism. There are no soft barriers in China. It is barriers of steel and lead. And now China reports no new cases. Not one new person out of 1.5B populace has caught the bug.
This guy says it best.
