It was noticeable that the when the 'science' guy (Van Tam?) in the daily briefing was asked yesterday 'why are we relaxing restrictions when we aren't seeing a drop in daily new cases?' yesterday he struggled to come up with a response and ended up not answering that question at all (and the questioner was not given a follow-up). When this is all over it will be interesting to see how much the govt is following the advice they are given.

I'm sure the government are getting plenty of advice from many quarters. I'm guessing they are following the advice of one of them, Its then down to whether individuals approve of the advise being followed

I read a Swedish epidemiologist that claimed that every singel person on earth will get infected. He claimed that herd immunity does not work and that no one can afford to wait out a vaccine. Medical treatment capacity was the only valid reason for any type of restrictions, his opinion. What I take issue with is not taking every precaution possible to prevent our elders and vulnerable from getting it.
Here in the uk, I think the current biggest daily deaths are amongst our care homes; I don’t believe they have sufficient ppe or support.
In Norway we have 129 deaths in care homes, 86 in hospital, 3 at home and 1 unknown.
That is less than 40% in hospital.
Our numbers are to small to be statistically solid, but I expect it's quite close to other north European countries.
You should probably inflict wounds inconsistent with life at a distance beyond any likely range of either aerosolized saliva/mucus or arterial spray.
As in many countries, the Queen Economy becomes THE priority.
People can die, these hard-working humans remain an adjustment variable for the capitalism.

Madrid is still bad and will not be able to pass the phase in the de-escalation, people, even some autonomy politicians, think that the virus has disappeared from the streets and are not taking the appropriate measures.

The truth is probably that they know the infection/fatality rates are decreasing massively, especially in places that aren't London, and the figures are being artificially inflated by reports of deaths where C19 was a secondary cause - often without any testing carried out for verification.
The government aren't going to come out and directly dispute figures submitted by health services (who, at the moment, are above criticism), so they're just quietly being skeptical of them.

Who's stopped worrying about climate change? Just because we've got a lot on our plates at the moment doesn't mean our desserts aren't still going to come from the kitchen. It's going to be tricky staying in our homes when they are 4ft under water. Social distancing is going to be hard in the community buildings that will be set up to accommodate the flood victims
Sure I'm miffed at the BBC for the way they are spinning the truth. If they weren't so scared of losing their funding they wouldn't be rolling over for the Tories the way they are. But at least they are still telling the truth (most of the time)

You see that's the thing about these politicians who lie through their teeth about this epidemic... it didn't go away in April. We can't just take it on the chin and go back to work. You can't just pretend everything is okay when the bodies are starting to pile up
People who struggle with object permanence. And to all the you-know-whos that struggle with 'fake news media': go to school, learn to think and the problem is solved. The issue isn't people being biased, everyone is biased. The issue is with ignorant people lacking the cognitive abilities to handle biased information and demanding a One True Source of Truth.

You might find that C19 changes things in ways you don't expect.
When things are humming along smoothly, it's easy to divert energy and attention to abstract concerns such as climate change, equality and the acceptable use of pronouns.
When, on the other hand, people no longer have the means to feed themselves or pay their bills, their concerns are likely to focus on the things that affect them most directly.
If there's a widespread conscious realisation that tomorrow's problems aren't important to starving homeless people, you might find that people defend their immediate priorities more fiercely.
Or, alternatively, people are now learning that the status quo was never a given, future threats do exist and not preparing for it has consequences.
In the end I suspect little changed: those who understand the issue still do, others have one more excuse to ignore it.
