The Scorpion, first impressions.

To preface with the words of a wise man.

"Don't let your dreams keep you from waking up" (I'm not entirely sure what he meant, but it sounds wise)
-Raul, at some point in time.

You fine, wonderful devs have taken the concept of "handles like a dream" and made it a reality. Truly, the Scorpion Combat Surface Vehicle (I refuse to use another moniker, sorry <3 ) handles superbly. You can feel the "oomph" in the vehicle and you can feel it especially well when you swap back and forth between a Scarab to compare. It's just SO good.

The sound design is gorgeous, nothing new for Frontier but it really bears mention. From acceleration to deceleration, weapons discharge from the gun and, my god the missile-system. Whoever did the work on that should have at least two extra tea-rations for the month of december. That is some MEATY soundwork, bravo!

Speaking of the gun weapons though, this is where unfortunately my only complaint comes in. The initial spread of the turret means you will -never- be able to land the first shot where you aim. You also probably won't land the fifth and it is debatable if you'll land the tenth. Now, this is a -rapid- fire weapon, don't get me wrong, but with 4 pips in weapon, I was only able to see accurate fire on skimmers after draining maybe 20-25 percent of the capacitor and that's something that -I- personally hope gets adjusted.

With all that said. A very very big THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart to the development team behind the Scorpion. You've done a superb job and I am very happy.

PS: Yes I absolutely love the choice of name for the vehicle as well, 21/10.

Edited to add some FAQ answers based on my own experiences.

1. The Scorpion can seat two people, can you use everything solo? Yes you can. Turret, gun and missile works fine as a solo pilot.
2. Can it scoop and grab materials? Yes, tested with zero problems.
3. What happens if I buy it in Odyssey and try to deploy it in Horizon? I will update when I have an answer, Have not tested yet.
4. Where do I buy one? Any military ground installation in Odyssey with outfitting or megaship, Shin-Dez being the obvious exception because Shin-Dez.

Military bases with outfitting (I think they're all ground bases, no military orbiters)
Well, luckily the in-game search engine and the various hotlinks around the outfitting screen will immediately point you to the nearest bases where you can buy one.

i think it not so usefull, but i am a skilled player in fps so i cannot see al this usefull stuff with scorpio, i can delete an entire settlement just with an aphelion and a roof.

Accuracy is much worse than civil version, there are jitter introduced ... Can hardly hit tropper from distance.
I think that's as it should be, although maybe it's a little TOO inaccurate right now.

The Scarab SRV, in turrent mode, can hit targets with pinpoint accuracy. It can trivially kill unshielded personnel from almost half a kilometer away. Until the rocket-wielding Enforcers were added, it was honestly a bit OP. The saving grace there is that the Scarab is fragile enough, and has loose enough handling, that you generally wouldn't bring it right up into a hostile settlement. You'd get stuck, swarmed, and destroyed. It seems like the Scorpion can absolutely do that though, being much more durable and with much tighter handling. The lack of pinpoint weapon accuracy is really its only downside.

Random question...

Lets say you've got a Scorpion in your ship's belly, and you decided to toddle off to gather some materials either at the crystalline shards or the Jameson Crash site. Being a pragmatic sort, you flip to Horizons, and off you go. You land and go to deploy your SRV...

What happens then? Does your SRV "default" to a Scarab, or are you faced with an empty vehicle hangar?

I've installed a couple on my Corvette (replaced the two Scarabs). I have a few questions about the stats I saw:

1. The Scarab is now listed as having a cargo capacity of 4 and the Scorpion as 2; did they actually increase the Scarab's capacity?! If so, that was a nice change.
2. The Scarab actually weighs 4 tons and the Scorpion weighs 30!!! Is the weight only affecting their jump characteristics or is it also supposed to affect our ship's weight/jump range? I really hope they don't do the latter (it doesn't appear to make any difference right now)
3. Is the Scorpion's only drawbacks that it contains slightly less fuel, weighs more (probably affecting jump ability), and holds less cargo? If so... hurray! I'll still use the scarabs for certain missions, but will be buying a LOT of Scorpions!
