Just a friendly reminder, if you run something like Open Broadcaster Software https://obsproject.com/ you can record your gameplay. If something unexpected happens you can save it and replay it. It'll either confirm that something valid but unexpected happened, or give the devs a lot of help in tracking down whatever bug may be causing this.

Had something similar happen flying near the 'Seeking Luxuries' T9's in my T7. Went from perfect to 51% hull instantly with sounds of collision, but none of the T9's were near me; they were at least 3 or 4 km away.

If / when these bugs get solved, my money is on combat missmatch.

Player A interdicts Player B

Player A's game thinks the interdiction was a success and is dropped into normal space with a copy of Player B which gets pulverized.

Player B's game thinks that Player B avoided the interdiction, player goes to a station to dock...

In Player A's instance, Player B is destroyed...

The server, now thinking Player B is destroyed, now informs the client for Player B that they are now dead. (Usually when the player is in the middle of docking or sitting at a station... Ka-boom!

Just a guess... just a guess...

Reading a lot about peoples syncing issues lately, that theory isn't half bad actually.

Just to throw in another theory, here comes mine:

When in an instance with other commanders around, I have seen NPC's kind of "warping" all over the place. I guess it has something to do with connection issues and the position of the NPC not calculated accurately. Maybe such an NPC "warped" into the ship, causing a collision and resulting in insta-death for the commander. So it might be interesting to know, if players that happened to suffer from this were in such an instance with other commanders.

Happened to me last week. Slowly approaching platform, landing gear down, docking granted, DC on and... Kaboom. Dead, no warning no nuffink. Just like i had hit something big. Only lost 500k on my asp and about 20t rares so not catastrophic but slightly annoying. Would be fascinated to know what is causing this...

I've become too reliant on Shield Cell Banks for fighting Elite Conda's

Currently it is pretty darn easy to shield cell tank the elite condas in my asp. I chaff as needed and usually go through 4-5 shield cells per elite conda. The problem is (and I think I felt this way even in a cobra) that I can't really find a way to avoid the condas guns. I'm always taking gimballed fire and can never really sit in its blind zone. For some reason, that behemoth of a ship always seems to out turn me. I can generally stay out of line of fire for his fixed plasma cannon shots, but I am concerned about taking these guys down without being able to rely on shield cell banks.

Does anyone else feel they can completely out maneuver an elite conda NPC? In what ship do you do this in? Can you offer any advice or even a video of you doing this?

Throw a cannister of cargo down. He'll pop over to investigate......hopefully......If he does, get on his six and open up with all you've got. Then stay on his six and enjoy the ride :D

Viper and Cobra, without cells, sit on his bum. Pretty doable, and pretty fast. Tried once in an Eagle out of boredom, was quite a ride, took some time but did it too. Target subsystems always. I've killed over 80, was my main source of income for a while. If you don't concentrate, they can spin round and chew you out in a sec, they love melting thrusters. Why take the risk? Cells just make it a guaranteed 150-200K Cr. per pop.

Anyone who has become dependent on shield cells is about to relearn fighting techniques soon. We won't know the full effect of the changes to them, but it won't be an easy ride any more (which is the point of course). Chaff as well. Putting all your fighting style into one methodology is usually a bad thing, because you don't have flexibility when it's not there. All your eggs in one basket.

Do you use FA-Off to sit in his blindspot? I haven't been in my Viper or Cobra for a while now, but I just couldn't hold position there for very long.

I get the nose of my eagle right up their tail pipe and the turrets still get me :( I think the best i have ever done was using only 3 shield cells when fighting a conda. It's usually closer to 6 otherwise I'm dead!

I never think to fit shield cell banks and to be honest, I wish they weren't even a thing, we've got shields, they regenerate, what's the issue? However, I have only destroyed one Anaconda and that was with the assistance of the space filth who were also riding Anaconda's. Every other time I've tried it, I've had to FSD out of there with no canopy and about 20% hull in a Cobra MkIII. I think I might just suck.

out turn me.

Thrusting is just as important as turning.

Does anyone else feel they can completely out maneuver an elite conda NPC?

Most of them, yes, but they have enough variability that there is the occasional exception.

In what ship do you do this in?

I normally use a Viper, though other ships can do it as well. Cobra, Eagle, even Adder.

Can you offer any advice or even a video of you doing this?

No.

Shield Cell Question

A class 2, rank e module holds 10 charges, while a rank b or similar class holds only 9. What am I missing here? Do they charge the shields only so much? Do they cost more to use? Why should I go after something with less charges that costs more?
