*rolls eyes* holy moly -_-

I didnt pay for an EVE rip off, either. But there are aspects of the sandbox that would help Elite realize its full potential. No, not in a 20000 player battle (vomit TIDI), but being able to fly 2000LY with a few friends and BUILD your own outpost... would be amazing. Establish a base for exploration on the rim... you know, like what would really be required.
No they didn't - if I can find the video, you'll see they are making it for themselves.
We are just along for the ride.... and for them to pick our brains from time to time.
Just make a group, pick a system, and ask to be put in place. Easy Peasy!
I kinda agree with you on the grinding issue. Apart from that, it's merely an open-ended, open world game, which is a perfectly valid kind of game.
No no no... keep the vid. I dont care what they said, sir. They released it to the public and we paid money to play it. In practice, the game is for us all, regardless of their intention. It would be folly of them... FOLLY, I SAY, to be a developer and not WANT the customer base to take ownership of the product that you produced.
I have not played elite.
You do understand, like with most other PC software titles now - we own nothing.
You're paying to rent a copy from them, until they pull the plug on it.
OK, just for my understanding/comprehension: you don't play the game but have a list of what's wrong with it (in your eyes)? Can you explain that please?

You can rest assured that some players will find ways to turn every tool at their disposal into ways of harassing others. Things like the station defenses and the rules for getting a bounty have already been put to that use.I dont see all of this as a disability, feeatures and tools with the aim to hinder other players.
Depends on what you consider to be the game and what you don't. 400 billion star systems for me to explore without allowing other players to mess things up sounds great for me.You lose so much potential. 400 billion star systems and zero influence.
Wings were part of the plan since well before the game launched; they are great tools for co-op play. And Powerplay doesn't seem to have been designed with direct player conflict in mind, given how it works and the fact players aren't able to take control over the powers. Why Wings update and Powerplay, when it was clear from the the beginning on that they will not exploit the potential?
The best I can tell, because the game was never supposed to be about player to player conflict. PvP is allowed, but not the focus, and is meant to be completely optional for the players that don't wish to take part in it.Why separate Players from each other with game modes and instances when they can spread to so many star systems?
Cool for those that want to join a player guild/faction/etc and wage wars on other player guilds/factions/etc.I dreamed of many convoys which are exploring to find new habitable planets and resources. I dreamed of new British (German, Spanish, French, etc.) colonies in space systems, players can colonize with stations, farms and production bases. convoys which traveled thousands light years between the colonies, between the old and new world, back and forth in order to trade, escorted by military fighters and warships or police ships.
Each region had other resources, each race / faction / guild / clan had other laws, other crafting skills, other goods. That means, the trade was significantly more important than what we now mean by trading.
By being able to build production facilities, a clan was dependent on the raw materials of other clans, and vice versa. Without raw materials the production did not run. without running production, there are no goods, no goods no functional economy, no weapons, no armor, no ships, no fuel for ships. I dreamed about the Game "The Settlers" in Space. Multiplayer. Better than Eve.
So as Clan you can conclude alliances or declare war. But every war also meant a risk, having to protect its occupied systems, stations and trade routes before counterattacks. Very expensive. very inconvenient That means to declare war was not always an advantage. Maybe the other faction is tooo far away to attack, huh? Maybe there are factions, players, who settled down in Systems we havent find yet? Huh?
I dont want to learn how to lose so much potential. I am sorry. But maybe u are right and I have to accept it. Wrong game.
This Game developer, who is able to make my dreams come true shall get more than 100 million USD from the players.
OK, just for my understanding/comprehension: you don't play the game but have a list of what's wrong with it (in your eyes)? Can you explain that please?
Thats why I said we paid money to play it, not we paid money to own it.
You know, I can't really recall a game that I've played over the last 20 years that didn't have "grind" to it - whether it was getting better ships in 'Sid Meier's Pirates!', better units/powers/pieces in 'Age of Empires,' better weapons in 'Halo'... I could go on and on and... you get the idea.
Kinda like my umbrella. It's a perfectly fine umbrella, designed and sold as an umbrella. It's also the same size, weight, and balance as the training sword I used for Iaido, which means I would likely be able to skewer a man with it.
For the rest of us, not so sure. Sounds like more work than play.
Very true sir. It would likely be extremely hard to implement at the current stage of the game. +1
Um...... When you pay money to ride on a plane you don't magically become an owner of it in any part. You are paying to play the Dev's vision for the game, you are not paying or owning the game in any form where the Devs are supposed to make your vision.
I'm firmly in the libertarian group so far as gaming goes, and it seems like a fair few Elite players are there as well.“The real division is not between conservatives and revolutionaries but between authoritarians and libertarians.”
The devs should attempt to make the best product that they can. That's all I'm saying. An airplane is a required means for long distance travel, and they know it. Sellers market and all. As a game company, anyone who sells ONLY what they want... and nothing of what the paying customers want.. Is doomed. Ewe Boll comes to mind.
Not saying FD is one of those companies, but the point is what it is.
You do realize that every person wants something different from a game.. Fdev have a vision and are following it and hoping it will appease the most and knowing they can't please everyone.. They are selling what they want.. if you don't like it you cannot demand they change it and it happens..
actually you can say whatever you want, whenever you want. FD is not all knowing nor omni-powerful in game development. Not to say they aren't good , but it is wise to take feedback from the audience.
Kind of remind me of a certain type of debate topic, where instead of debating the issue or problem - everyone on the defenders side just circumnavigates the problem by saying it is FD's will that the game is as is and it's the best possible outcome for a Sandbox, when clearly this is not the case
