No, you can have your solo power play. But it can't influence my open power play world.

If you don't want to merge solo and open, than separate it completely.
What if I want to move between the modes? That's how the game was designed to be played.

What made you think that?
Well, I don't know, maybe 'cos they allowed us to shoot "hostile" cmdrs without penalty? Encouraging to defend systems against other cmdrs by shooting them down.

But it doesn't matter, they made opposite effect on the game. Players hiding in solo, undermining or fortifying without fear of being destroyed by other cmdrs.

In my opinion, especially for power play, simply it's not fair for players in the open to be affected by actions from players from solo/private. Simply put you cannot shot other players to defend your power, and no hauling some pixels in game it's not the same as fighting the same pixels :D
Maybe a compromise is to have players from solo/private keep their shiny toys even in open, but their actions cannot influence the power play in the open.

Shooting players is not a mechanic that is part of Power Play. You don't even get any merits for it.

As above, you don't get merits for shooting CMDRs. They allow it, they give you a reason for it, but it can hardly be seen as encouraging it if they don't actually reward it. Humouring more like.

Not hiding btw. And nothing to be fearful of.

Like I said, you can have your solo. Play PvE as long as you like. Show those NPCs who's the boss. But why would your actions in solo influence my open universe? You'll go undermine my system and I can't do anything to stop you.

The "open universe" is the same as the "solo universe" which, in turn is the same as the "private group universe" - all players share the same galaxy state. With the introduction of the XBox One version of the game, we have even more players sharing the same galaxy state - players that we will probably not be able to encounter in-game at all but whose actions will affect everyone's shared galaxy state.

There no solo universe or open universe, we're all playing in the same universe.

You'll go undermine my system and I can't do anything to stop you.

You can only see 31 players at a time and in practice you won't see more than 16. You won't be able to stop everyone.

And whats the use of having a biggest, baddest ship if you are afraid to loose it or you are not ready to pay the insurance?

Broken combat mechanics make PvP combat a joke anyway.

This can happen in Open as well, with the limited Instances of 32 ( or is it 16 ) and with the matchmaking only connecting to local users with good pings and if they don't put you on their ignore list. The likely hood of seeing those people are slim anyway solo/group or open........

I know, but when you shoot down a cmdr few times in a row, maybe he'll think about moving out of that system, try his luck elsewhere.

I'm aware it's the same universe. I'm saying, either merge solo and open, or separate it complete. True, you can't stop everyone, but you can stop few. And some other cmdrs from your power will stop the rest. ;)

I think it's only 16 :( another thing i don't like about elite :(

It's not your universe, and not your system. We all share the universe and we all influence it. The systems belong to the factions/Powers.

You stop Powers undermining a system by Fortifying the system. That's how Power Play works. You can't stop it by shooting other players. It's like trying to play Monopoly by punching the other players. That's not part of the game. If you want to play it that way then that's your choice but not everyone will want to join in with you. And why bother? You can have a punch-up anywhere, why do you need Monopoly as an excuse? You can PvP anywhere (start a Private Group with your PvP pals and have at it) why do you need Power Play to give you an excuse? It doesn't even give you anything for PvP.

So you want to bully players into letting you have your way? Nice.

It's technically 32 but generally 16 in practice I believe.

Sorry, but I am convinced you're wrong. Setpping 5 Ly aside will make you a solo player in open not seeing any living player for hours.
If jumping out of the core systems powerplay means nothing. It was introduced to foster player interaction (mostly PVP) but as a Nomad this
will be of disadvantage to me because I will not stay local and need to cope with all factions. So coming around different places and if the system
is core or exploited just does not matter if your are not in mainstream. So your (and others) influence to the bigger picture is absolutely limited.
Sorry for bad news.

Miklos

You missed my point by a mile.

I think power play was supposed to bring more PvP action, but it had opposite effect. Everyone grinding in solo, affecting us open players, and we can't do anything about it.

It does. I've seen plenty of PvP going on during my tour of the powers. I was killed thrice as well.

A hell of a lot more PvP going on from what i can see.

Why is your Solo mode easier to farm in ?

You totally ignored my question. I asked you how you intend to compensate players who paid full price for a game while you want to restrict them access to a significant portion of content. Your comment doesn’t address that.

But it does, just like xBox, and PS4 players will affect OUR galaxy. It's the way it is.

Yeah ? Make another one now and we will see. When that poll was done it was only backers who voted on it, no new players from Steam or Xbox. We will see now.

Why make another one? That poll has only been running since March this year and is still running - place your vote, encourage others - the more the merrier!

You want the majority to decide ? Let's also make a poll on the number of players that consider themselves as hardcore PvPers. If Open mode is to be forced, introduce PvP flags or I'll start the "how to tweak your router" thread myself.

So start the thread already. Not like you can just magically click exit game and voilla you are out of danger anyway....

Who please tell me who said Open should be forced for the love of God who ?? We are asking for them to be separate but exactly the same. You choose what you want i choose what i want and everybody is happy. I get bounties in station that i can actually hunt down because they are not hiding in Solo anymore and i can actually stop the opposition from winning a CZ just by playing Solo. And you Solo can have your grindfest continue just like you like it. So who is asking for Open only? All i see here is Please split them please split them. Is it that hard ?

Which point do you think I missed?

It's not "my" universe, sorry for not putting quotations marks, no need to take it all literally.
You don't stop powers undermining your systems by fortification, as when both sides reach 100% it's over. System is either fortified, undermined or both.
I can't stop cmdrs directly, but like I said. If I obstruct (by shooting or interdicting) a cmdr maybe I'll convince him that this system is dangerous for him and he'll move on. That way, at least, I stopped that particular cmdr. Resulting in less players undermining "my" system.

I won't even comment on monopoly reference.

And this, about me bullying other players is where you missed the point. My intention is not to bully anyone, it's the last thing I want to do.

I seek interaction with other players, dogfighting until surrender (mine or his), fight until death if need be, i'm prepared for that. Power play is about struggle, about taking something by force and not letting other player take what is yours. And, sorry, but I don't find it fun shooting NPCs in owepowered vulture all day.

I hope I made my point clear now, English is not my native language. :(
