I'll defend a portion of the PvP crowd against that generalization.
I have sympathy for those players, and hope at least some of them will stick around and become long-term members of the Pilot Federation, finding fun things to do in this game within those limitations.
You are correct, not ALL 'open' players are like this. But they are certainly suffering under the weight of grief that their peers are putting forth.
Certainly if there were a large portion of people from solo/group mode acting childishly, aggressively, abusively and narcissistic-ally then I would try my best to distance myself from them, so as not to be tarred with the same brush. This is a 'tired' subject, and yes its not nice to generalise. People acting poorly is just that; people acting poorly. Just like racism, it doesnt come from a particular group, it comes from the heart of one person. But lets not allow deterioration of this thread, like in so many others, and continue the discussion. The last few pages have been a good exchange between people who genuinely care about the game's outcomes and the future of the community.
I'm still not entirely sure why this needs to change .. the options we have seem to please the majority of players. The remaining seem only to suffer from 'resentment' of solo/group players being able to arrive in 'open' fully armed and fully cashed up. Separate the 'modes' then. Make each mode independant of the the other, so in effect they are 2 separate universes. That way, if you wanna play in open, then you cant earn all your cash in solo/group and just turn up in a fully kitted 'conda. Likewise, if you're getting scared or griefed or just a little butt-hurt from being pwned in pvp, you cant run and hide in solo/group.
Wipe the lot, separate the modes, start again. Those people over there ... and those people over there. Done.
