The flaws are that obvious.
The "flaws" are only flaws to someone who holds a particular viewpoint that Elite is a competitive, combat focused, multiplayer, team-oriented Player Versus Player game, where the pew-pews win, and if you don't kill the "opposing force" you somehow lose the game, and as always, the loser has to mop up the gibs of splattered n00bs.
Elite, however, even with the most cursory of glances as to what it was envisioned to be by it's very
designer, is a game in which
cooperative play is actively encouraged and Player Versus Player is essentially looked down upon as a form of brutish unintelligence; the blunt tool of the dimwitted - the behavior of thugs.
Granted, you get thugs in any universe, and thugs can and do exist in Elite. What happens to thugs though, is that they get punished. Wether that punishment is execution, imprisonment, griefer hell or being IP lolbanned by disgruntled players is
not for them to decide
Player Versus Player interactions are meant to be
meaningful and serve an in-game purpose. Simply smacking snot out of everyone else in Open just because you
can holds no meaning and serves no purpose. Simply complaining that some people are out of your reach to smack is just, urm, well, thuggish.
