Please elaborate..I don't get it.
It seems to me that the use of unlimited shields (and other combat hacks and cheats) is prevalent in the open universe.
God shields and auto turrets is the afk. Never heard of super jumping though

Calling here. A quote further up you are saying it goes on more in solo than open. That's rubbish and you know it.
Wasn't afk farming fixed about a month ago anyway?
To say hacks are being written by disgruntled solo players would be an absolute first in any game. If you know anything about the game haxor community you will find they are primarily multiplayers not single players.
Also: not directed at you but let's not forget that a good minority traded there way to good ships in solo before trying to god mode smaller ships in open. and then say how unfair solo is haha.

I have been playing since the first alpha release...
Well, I'm done now. I am not continuing with a game that plays only to the open/pvp game play and leave solo players floundering.
The latest 1.3 patch was aimed more at open and PVP players, solo players got another two ships once more. The drones that would have helped miners has been offset by more NPC pirate attacks on miners so you'll be spending most of your time fighting off NPC's with a gimped ship and little or no time mining. Even the addition of NPC wingmen that many have asked for would have helped you defend yourself against NPC pirates while you mined or did other things. You may as well go bounty hunting instead of mining because that's what you'll be doing anyway. IMO, it's just another patch to cater for open play users while to solo players get left out AGAIN.
I will be recommending to my friends that they wait until SC comes out because this game would no more suit them than it does me, none of them are interested in playing Elite in open, they would play solo too. Like me, they wanted Elite to be a single player offline game and only got interested because it was promised that we would get an offline mode. One friend wanted to play it but can't because he has no internet at home and can't afford the monthly cost for it but even he said he wouldn't have played it in open anyway.
I think you're mis-informed. All the hacks are still currently working. The afk farming fix was for normal players sitting next to a cap ship doing it. Hackers have enhanced shields, extra damage and a built in logoff if their shields do go down. They then just leave a ship in any combat zone and farm kills. Regards to the players making the hacks being primarily offline orsolo players, go find the thread for yourself and you'll see everything I'm saying is true.
I'm not one for wild accusations. I've never said all solo players are hackers but in the case of ED most hackers are solo players, for now anyway as I'm sure they'll soon be moving to open with their maxed out ships. A large portion of them don't have any interest in open and are just hacking the game because they want to. They regard new updates as "content" as they have fun cracking the new implementations fd put in place to stop them.
I have no sympathy for players who traded up in solo and then complain about it.
Is the thread about ED hacks?
I've reaserched a bit myself regarding console game hackers and these are primetilt multiplayer groups. Admittedly I'm new to pc but you could argue the multi/single player mentality is the same no matter the hardware.
Yes but Ed and the official forum has more of a bias towards solo/pve players due to the legacy of the game.
Those players are not true solo players...that's the point. And I repeat - for obvious reasons, combat hacks are more prevalent in the open, multiplayer universe.in the case of ED most hackers are solo players, for now anyway as I'm sure they'll soon be moving to open with their maxed out ships..A large portion of them don't have any interest in open

That's the point they're not because they're so easily detectable. Everyone runs shadow play these days and the majority of pvp players will spot a hack a mile off. The biggest problem in open is combat logging not hacking. The hysteria over hacking in open is because everyone knows they're widely available. If you go check the trhead out you'll find most are used in solo. Go read it and then come back and discuss it.
The only reason folks would cheat in solo is for an incentive in open. Which is why the modes need to be separate. It'll kill the game because the ease of hopping between modes would be eliminated, but at least PvE players would be free of the nth PvP pollution in video games.

So I'll be seeing you guys around. Say hi if you see me in SC because I'm gone from here now.
I think you missunderstand Powerplay, all the content from 1.3 is available in all Modes, there is no open-only content. All it does is putting some more stuff in the Game for everybody regarding which mode you play.Well, I'm done now. I may have read the wrong newsletter because I didn't interpret anything as player competition. I thought Powerplay was a way for players to take the side of an NPC faction and follow as well as influence their fortunes and political moves. When did it suddenly become about PvP again?
I'd rather that cheaters were dealt with swiftly and effectively than the game features were messed about with as a sticking plaster - Solo affects Open as they share the same background simulation, so stopping players mode switching would only deal with part of the problem (and likely enrage a significant portion of the player-base).
Mixing solo and open play is going to cause a host of problems. One of the worst that just makes game communities toxic is PvP and PvE imbalances. The billion dollar publishers can't even get that fixed, I doubt indies will magically fix the issues, too.
Separate wouldn't matter as Joe Schmoe trucking 32 tons of gold is only going to effect his solo instance, not Jane Doe's instance.
Everything is about the PvPers, don't you know by now![]()
