Actually an Atari2600 was my second console.
But I think that point proves how ridiculous your comment is.
If you've been playing games since the Atari2600 and you're still amazed by the shallow AC gameplay then I really don't know what else to tell you.

The fact that you take AC to be the entirety of the game is shallow in and of itself. its the first stepping stone and if you cant see where its going here let me lend you a hand

Well the AC currently is the entirety of the game
And the hangar module, I guess

Just saying

not true at all. Its only what is available to test.

By that logic the latest beta is all their is for Elite. if so id be extremely concerned if i were you considering its shiping in less than 4 weeks

AC IS what is the entirety of the SC right now.
You can't play all the features they have planned can you?

So when you say: "If i want something to rock my socks off i play Star Citizen", you're talking about AC.
I don't understand how you got confused.

Would you like to revise what you said? Fine by me.

Yep and it confirmed what I said, you will only be able to earn the ability to fly the ships for a limited amount of time, you will not be able to earn them (even for just AC play). That is assuming that Ben is right, and Ben is never right. Do you have something else that actually contradicts what I said?

Ok, I'm clearly not able to express myself reasonably... it seems that we have different understanding of "unlocking"... Nevermind, the important thing is that you will be able to play AC ships that you not have pledged with RL money.

SC thread 4.0 incoming... :p

Current Version of AC rocks my socks. No doubt about it. The flight mechanics, power management, shield management, weapon groupings, ship destruction, targeting computer alone make for extremely deep experience at such an early stage.
I am completely blown away
It really sounds like you have no idea you can control any of these systems if you think the gameplay is shallow at this stage in development
Also next patch brings the beginning of stealth and electronic warfare to the game. Like i said every update Blows My Mind. Shallow is the furthest thing ArenaCommander could possibly be

Nice to see some detailed explanation of artificial gravity in SC (lore) with some hints to future gameplay possiblities (switching direction of the gravitation etc.
Having the plates emit LAG in one specific direction seems very useful and we like the way this could possibly tie into tractor tech if we needed it to. We could also have rooms where the AG could be switched from one surface to another as needed. (The designers are having fun with this idea.) And since the fields are contained, it would also be possible to set up rooms where they are oriented in different directions — i.e., bases in space would not have to all be built on just one plane.

Clearly you've missed out on playing games like Freespace, X-Wing, Starlancer, I-War, and Evochron. But it's okay! Most of those games are available on GOG, so you can experience while you wait for SC to be completed. :D

"extremely deep experience" !?!?

I now honestly believe, since you mentioned it, that you're comparing AC to Atari2600 games.
I can't fathom any other non-offending excuses for your statement, so I'm going to rest my case right here. :)

"extremely deep experience at such an early stage." Context....lets try and keep it in there next time

I wish I was English like my hero Tj.
Guys - everyone is entitled to their opinions. There's no need to poke each other in the eye over what one likes and the other does not. We're not discussing SC at that point - merely scoring each other's preferences. And that's not the point of this thread.

Yeah, I love the lore building posts, cool to have "explanations" as to why certain stuff works, even though it is fictional.

Of course. The rest is words, words, words

I have faith in Elite and faith in SC. I think both games are pretty potent and dont have to fear each other. but they complement each other.

Its like Star wars <-> 2001 Odyssey

and for the next year(s) we wont have another ready modern space sim out - only Elite will be the King of the Hill- so there is no need to be overprotective for either game. Just embrace both games visions and whatnot.

that said - is there an eta to the next AC Patch and what it will include? I doubt I will be able to playtest the next weeks cause I want to inhale Elites release ;) but I could download the stuff already for later.

What I find most exciting about Star Citizen at this stage in its development is how CIG involve the fans/players in open dialog. I haven't heard of any other company that has done it this way - ever. You get to see how a game is made, almost from the inside. You feel you're part of the process.

And I like what I see, and where it's going. IMO Star Citizen will be something special. The level of detail and fidelity is something new to the industry. The scope of the game will also be something people haven't seen before. It'll span many different genres that ties together in a natural way. We are surely witnessing history in the making - and I'm not only talking about the crowdfunding record.

But I'm not satisifed with everything. For one, I don't like that you can fight in third person, even if you don't have the HUD then. 3rd person should only be possible when you aren't fighting and only to look at your own ship and the scenery. Nothing more. Another thing is the insane speed the 3rd person camera move. I simply get dizzy. So I'd want it nerfed down to possible 1/10 of the speed with a user option slider.

There are also some other things. For instance, I think allowing mice targeting just attracts lots of console kids that makes noise in the forums. CIG should just remove the mouse dogfight option and the r3d person dogfight. Then many of the noisy kids would leave.

just because you cant play it doesnt mean its not in game.. hard concept to understand ill give you that.

Just because you don't know it, doesn't mean that you aren't a fishmonger! Although employment in the fishing industry may be a hard concept to grasp.
Also, those videos were totally words. I think we're getting a bit silly about ''furthering our causes'' now.

I think this thread would be a lot calmer if we focused on discussing what is, not what may be, although that is just my opinion.
