The Star Citizen Thread v 3.0

To be fair, I "paid to test" Elite. That's everyone's own choice.

When Elite came out, people complained about backers having better ships than non-backers. The difference is that Elite already has a ton of NPCs with all sorts of equipment, and on top of that you can always move somewhere else. And you can play Solo. All things that are not an option in what's currently released of Star Citizen. If you're a base level backer, you're not going to have fun. Insert coin to continue.

But we also "paid to test" SC, as in early, same as ED, but now we are asked to pay a 2nd fee to test items. ED only had a single "fee" and that was to get in.

The cost difference between what alpha backers got and starting in a Sidewinder was a few hours of play (depending on how good you were), I should know I did just that. Last number CR gave out, and that was a LONG time ago, was 60 hours to get a Constellation, and the Constellation is less then 10% the price of the max priced ship people could purchase.

1500 raises some interesting points on how CR's vision has changed (or lacks consistency).
It would be nice if some of the fans would actually argue the points instead of attacking the poster again.

Or maybe just ignore anything of substance and just post another video showing gorgeous graphics again.

I do hope they can come up with a system that is fair to as many people as possible, but locking things behind additional paywalls is not fair, at all. These recent changes just look dodgy. It annoys me that there is such a huge drive for money making and yet they are still trying to inconvenience people enough that paying or subscribing is the less painful option.
It does make me sceptical of what their plans are for when the game eventually releases.

On that i said it would be bad to earn UEC cause it would make players rich before the game comes out.

But he responded to that in that people are already rich with hangars full of expensive ships.
Respond to that... keep the flow of the conversation going ;)

He does indeed.

It's a tough one to resolve. On the one hand, if the devs make it too easy to earn UEC for better ships and equipment, it can seem like a slap in the face to those who've invested lots of $, at the same time, if it is too difficult and/or grindy to earn UEC, it's a slap in the face to those who were promised that everything will be earnable and achievable in-game.
A balance needs to be found - it has not yet been found in REC, in my humble opinion.
Unfortunately, I do not have any suggestions to make on how to sort it out.

I would get angry if cig keeps selling ships if the game is finished. But not until that time. Because without these people it would not be possible for me to play the game.

Additionally what are 150k UEC (That is the max ammount i can pay for, and that will cost 150$! I think that is a lot of money for what?)
In the end you will not be able to buy a aurora with 150k UEC. In Elite Dangerous 150k is nothing. How much is it in sc? And how fast do i earn ships in sc? Unkown. I needed 3~4 weeks to get the biggst ship in Elite. That was nothing. Not 275$ worth if i would be allowed to compare the connie with anaconda.

You can't compare any of this to Elite. In Elite 150,000 Cr can be earned in 10 mins but it has no monetary value. In SC the best scenario is 4000 UEC p/hr (connie = 60 hours) so 150,000 UEC is 37.5 hours.

The REC value is obviously water testing for UEC value. If it stays as it is then a Connie will take around 125 hours (if you're not winning in a Super Hornet) which would certainly feel very grindy and put the emphasis on paying to get ahead.

From where did you get this 4000 UEC p/hr?

Ok, final chance.

Keep on topic, don't make personal comments about other forum members and stay civil.

If you can't post a constructive comment, don't post at all.

If any posts are created that are off topic etc infractions and holidays from the forum will be issued.

Thanks.

As per the above, If you can't discuss things without making personal comments or arguing, don't post.

It's fine to debate and discuss the game and I understand that things can get a bit heated but continual sniping comments and arguing for the sake of arguing and repeatedly ignoring moderators requests to calm it down is not acceptable.

If it continues it will be considered as contesting a moderator and infractions will be issued on that basis.

So you want that people get insane rich before the game starts?

What are you talking about? Getting rich???? The whole purpose of AC is to test flight mechanics and other tid bits CIG puts in that will get incorporated into the SQ 42 and then the PU. The things we do and have in AC that we earned with REC will not be available to us in the PU unless the person actually dropped real hard cash to buy it, like their ships. The REC will not be kept well into the PU, just like how everything you earn in the PU Alpha and Beta will be constantly reset and once finally reset before the live PU launches and everyone starts from the same point, unless you have been dropping real cash to buy UEC and ships and equipment.

AC is not just about testing flight mechanics it will be in the PU its the game within the game. So I was expecting the REC to carry over as it has no real impact on the PU but if it goes who cares we will be after UEC by then
.
hangar is "real"
social module is "real"
Arena commander is " a game"
Star Marine is " a game"
.
my main concern is that the PU as it is rolled out is kept "real" and not an extension of AC. To me AC should be keep as single missions the second you start linking every thing in AC together
it starts to compete with the PU as a low risk option
.
PS anyone else annoyed that you can not space lines out?

The PU will be seamlessly integrated with the simulator (AC). The latter will be accessible through the simpod, else you can fly out of the hangar in your select ship and into the PU.

I don't think they'll remove anything from the simulator after PU comes live so it'll continue to be a game inside the game. However, since the simulator will have only a tiny bit of the PU simulated then it won't be a real competitor to the real thing. For those who only seek combat then the simulator may be a low risk option but again then there's nothing wrong with that. If they don't want to be part of an ever changing, evolving, persistent universe, where credits and rewards can be earned, then let them just play the simulator.

I vaguely remember that we were supposed to have a basic version of the FPS module by now?
Have they said when it's been delayed until?
