Which is what everyone will end up doing in the end, sooner or later, making all the effort, time and money spent on developing it, pointless.

The NPC won't be able to do it as efficiently as a human... And if you are a smuggler/black market trader, you would want to place your goods manually.

Shouldn't they be able to do it better seeing it's their day job? ;) The smuggler side of things I can understand wanting to do yourself.

It's interesting what people consider immersive, which is not to imply they're wrong but personally I always struggle with how developers allow a player character to become so heroic, ie I'm a crackshot combat pilot, a crackshot marine, a crackshot stevedore/docker, a crackshot industrialist, a crackshot cartographer, so on and so forth, and all at the same time. I find that takes me away from being immersed in a game very quickly.

Hats off to the designers, they look great. Best looking in SC I would say.

Nice. Something that can bee seen in that Hull B video btw is the distance that the hull has from the ground when fully laden. CIG has told us that Hull A and B can land on planets when fully laden, so its somewhat of a mystery how the B class can accomplish this. I have made a speculation thread about it here if anyone is interested.

Best solution yet...

What I'm curious about is how you are suppose to load/unload the cargo from these considering how that is going to work according to the recent reveals of that mechanic.

Well, we know that C,D and E are going to be loaded/unloaded in big orbital docks that are purpose built to handle container ships. Think of it like container terminals for transshipping that use large automated gantry cranes to do the job. Essentially, the larger Hull ships are like post panamax container ships, carrying large amounts of TEU cargo between ports. They use big to huge jump points, and travel the most known trade lanes.

For planet to orbit shuttle cargo services, we have the A and B series. These are able to be loaded and unloaded in planets as well as in space stations, and you should be able to also load them manually in outposts and other places of interest that lack the equipment to do it automatically.

Have to admit I do like the concept of these Misc ships - especially the way the extend and contract - they look like a gadget freaks dream!

I do think there is a balance to be found in the cargo loading processes. It would be a novelty a few times.

That said these things must be a dedicated space trucker's wet dream...

This is the Hull C folding away the cargo scaffolding:

play star citizen to get through the dark months... cant wait, bring it on already...
that will ease the time to skylake-e

I've been using my 2500K @ 4.5 ghz for the last 4 years and I still have no problems with bottleneck issues maxing out games at 1080p*. xD I wonder if skylake or cannonlake will finally make a worthy successor to this old beast when it comes to gaming. I cannot remember the last time I've had a CPU that lasted this long and still ranked among the best even after so many years.

*GTX 970 atm, my old GTX 590 had issues with some of the games I was playing, but got that sorted with the gtx 970 in late january)

I do have to wonder how, ah... 'boring' it's going to be loading cargo on these large ships, lol. I would assume that they're not going to have me (the freighter captain) lug around and load two billion crates of whoopee cushions bound for Stanton.

I somehow doubt you'll be bored when you're job will be to direct ship defense operations while you are under attack. Pirates are going to spring their traps as soon as they see cargo being offloaded.

Because NPC might run away with them ?

You would want to hide the crate with the illegal weapons etc. somewhere between the grain/scrap etc., so pirates or police won't find it easily.

This will be one of the primary areas where Star Citizen fails. And all because the masses don't want realistic NPCs doing realistic operations in the sim. It is like people don't realize that NPCs are a part of the immersive experience. They just want to fly around in a world full of mindless drones and all because they don't want to compete and have to work for their money. They should put as much work into every aspect of the sim as they do into the ship details.

I wish I was English like my hero Tj.

My comment was mostly tounge-in-cheek. :) I do hope that cargo hauling, like every other profession, is engaging and rewarding in its own manner.
