The Star Citizen Thread v 4

Oh yeah right, this is a thread of extremes, sorry. ;)

Anyway, i'm happy we're getting the Stretch Goal of the PG Planet tech sooner than expected, kinda changes the whole vibe of what to expect for the future and how will gameplay be on, now i understand when they said players or organizations can own factories and stuff like that, to be much possible because of the scale one PG tech can offer.

They said on the video that what we just saw was put together in days. Not that the tech was done in days. o_O

I am repeating what you said, if that is what you intended to say, perhaps make that clean in the first place.

They always say the video's were put together in days, yet past employee's say that was their job was to make those trailers.

Here's the Press Version of it:

What we seen after the video adobe, was Sean Tracy showing it live, not a trailer, on-engine of course. It's the same thing they used for that trailer, but he shown he could play trough it to prove it's not faked, if he didn't did that, the claims would already be that was a faked demo of vaporware. That's where my comment came from, if you understood me correctly.

Actually look at the detail on the trailer vs live, it looks much better in the trailer.

Planetary landing tech looks cool. The scale is out of whack though.

The timing to coincide with Horizons release is a totally classless move by Chris. Lost some respect for him for for that one.

Classless? From a marketing point of view it is brilliant

Such a marketing stunt, and i hate to see that they even claim anything about that atmosphere is physically accurate. There is no interaction at all between ship and atmosphere, i don't care about the bloom.

Genius actually. Elite does the same thing, the atmosphere, the scale of things, does sell. This is the kind of Marketing CIG needs to do, show their engine in action. May be early, un-finished, WIP, but it shows the potential.

Are you always so easy to impress? No there is nothing genius about faking content by showing something trivial with a lot of bloom to cover it up. Yes, people go for it, that's sad, but still it's cheap.

Getting PG to simulate plate tectonics to make realistic mountains, or consider tidal locking when placing craters etc, that's more the direction towards genius.

No just cheap.

Yeah but extremely effective, just look at us, we are talking about it. As the whole space gaming community... And we all know here, that the gameplay for planetary landing in Star Citizen will not be implemented until at least one year. Let alone what form the gameplay will be in game. Not sure if even CR knows it himself. But still, we are talking about it.

Somewhere.... Over the rainbow...

On a serious note, if SQ42 makes it to 2016, the actual Star Citizen MMO is going to be at least 2017.

With the all of the UK office working on Squadron 42, I think its release date will largely be independent of Star Citizen's.

Last official word I heard was a penciled in target of Q2 of 2016 for Squadron 42 Episode 1, and Q1-Q2 of 2017 for Star Citizen

Sure, never said it wasn't effective, so was one night in paris. it's about the same level.

Remember 2.0 is mostly a work from the UK Office, they work on everything.

But the reality is, the first months of 2016 are going to be Crucial for either can SQ42 or not release in time, they will delay it over rush it if necessary, that we know.

LOL no, what CIG need to do is deliver. They are known for is showing trailers that don't mean anything. So will it be another year before they drop it and we get nothing? Kind of like the FPS module? Or heck lying and claiming something is a sneak peak but is just rehashed video from a year ago.
