Preemptive damage control trying to get people prepared for the MVP :)

"The game has been released for years" - Chris Roberts, 2019, probably.

"What do you mean a 1.0 release? We will soon be releasing 3.0!" - more or less what CR said to gamestar.de when asked about release in 2016/2017

The great space game swindle,it’s worth every penny of other people’s money to watch this all play out. I guess Roberts thinking was fill everyone with fluff and hope it sorts itself out and whilst he’s waiting he’ll have lots of lovely money.

CIG has a vault of assets ready and waiting to be implemented - caverns, stations, landing zones, and so forth. Development is currently bottlenecked by the lack of server meshing. Once it's finished, CIG will be able to fill out the existing system with more detail without crashing their servers.

Magic patch on the way.

I still wonder how hard it could have been to do a second system by now? They have QT, so is it much of a stretch to do Interstellar through the same kind of accelerated tunnel thingy that "The other game" uses and get people at least trading between systems?

Does this come down to persistence and tracking across instances, etc?

Well my take on this is that they didnt really utilize any procgen tech at all. The whole planet is handcrafted and consists of copy-paste textures, again placed by hand. Their "development pipeline" probably consists of a handfull of guys so they needed roughly 10-12 months for one
