I do like that ship!!!! I’m on the hunt for a large ship, just need to decide what. It needs to be as solo player friendly as possible. As I often tool around by myself.
Damn sight cheaper than an 890J at least (same price as a 600 explorer)...and it's useful having decent cargo space, forget the exploration blurb...I'll be long dead by the time that appears in SC. Ci¬G will probably lie and say they're close to releasing another system...but if it's a reality, I'd be frankly stunned.

An added bonus with the Carrack is that you won't need to order a set of CR autographed gold budgie smugglers to be seen flying it ;)

 Who the heck puts turrets on pylons well away from the hull, and then artificially restricts their field of fire by putting "TIE fighter" style "wings" around them?
Yup...you can probably guess CR himself had a hand in designing that particular feature.. they're not manned turrets per se, I reckon they're just gimballed weapon mounts akin to the freelancer...or remote turrets. I did assume initially that the tie fighter wings folded flat when in flight, apparently they don't. Nice concept pic though.

It's all to coincide with the release of the Anvil Carrack...which will probably be one of the biggest sellers Ci¬G have ever churned out. That's not just me surmising...it's an insanely popular ship, always has been, even back when it was an image drawn on a post-it note stuck on a Dev's monitor...

Maybe, but I doubt it. CitizenCon in Nov 23. Carrack is in 3.8 which is supposed to be released end of Q4. I'd be really surprised if 3.8 was released a month early. I'd be only somewhat surprised if the Carrack does not get pushed back to another patch and actually releases with 3.8.

Aye...now that I think of it...more than likely.

As for how they are going to milk backers, someone found something in the game files not long ago that indicated what would be the big reveal for the con. Some sort of gameplay feature. Ill be damned if i can remember what it was.

Ah, here we go, from SA

Leaks about this year's CitizenCon based on some images from the SC Leaks discord. There's going to be another long in-game demo with tons of long, pointless travel but some new tidbits for Citizens to lose their minds over:

* A new ship will be debuted, the Anvil Pisces- what this is, who the knows. Given how they've been trending, probably another Hammerhead-sized ship in the 700 dollar range.

* Debut of the Anvil Carrack which is/was supposed to release in December, who cares, exploration ship in a game with no exploration.

* Travel to the "Jump Point" which could be the first hint that they are actually going to try to stand up a second solar system in the game and try to use the single new wormhole as some kind of prop to sell "Exploration" gameplay. It'd basically be like exploring the tram from Ironforge to Stormwind.

* Supposedly it will be the "Pyro" system on the other side. Given how terminally they are at producing planets for these things, I wouldn't bet on it containing new assets produced in secret over the last year. Likely they will move Delamar there- they already pulled that planet out and away from the gas giant to kind of get it "Ready" for the move.

I see this kind of dreaming talk often in SC related forums sometimes taken to wild extremes. Here a recent example. It sounds as if while patrons are posting these their brains somehow blocked out completely and ignored that there is no gameplay associated with most of those features, and that CIG has been repeatedly blundering the few bits that may resemble it, or simply cancelling and postponing sine die. Since we are discussing the Carrack it can be worth mention that exploration alone is probably the gameplay feature set and profession least existing in the game even if it seems to be one of the most requested, which adds insult to injury.

There does not seem to be any amount of actual factual evidence that would lead some of these fans to the logical conclusion that CIG may never deliver those, or deliver them god knows when in a very, very poor and wanting state. Even Disco Lando just recently confirmed that the old design documents (that were used very directly as promotion material and product description to sell very specific ships) are not to be trusted anymore and were way too optimistic. And yet, people keep on fantasizing on all those described mechanics as if it all was going to be there no sweat. Nevermind the complete sidestep of potential false advertising implications. It is just fascinating. No idea what would take patrons to see these things rationally.

Aye...now that I think of it...more than likely.

If there is anything that CIG always delivers on is sales and sale pitches. If the Carrack is one of the star products on sale at the Anniversary / CitCon sale it will most likely be there. And I can not imagine a Carrack sale without at least a jump point (or any other kind of anomaly) shown, possibly in a very dramatic and heroic "first find" video. Actual logical no. of players per jump point ratio considerations and explo gameplay mechanics be darned.

Edit: Also forgot to mention that the tries for being photorealistic result in a thing called uncanny valley that also doesn't really help with immersion.
Dunno what you are babbling about, i dont see my character's face and i was talking about VOIP. Were you talking about FOIP ? Dont give a flying flamingo about that. I was merely stating the obvious convenience of immediate VOIP to contact other players. Unless you find that inviting randoms to your teamspeak is immersive and convenient..

Immersion times in 3.6.2
It's to be noted that you can buy another drive for your ship in game, and that feature seems to work (!!!). Bought a Siren drive for my fighter, to reduce travel times...
