The Star Citizen Thread V10

I had drama last night when someone asked if I was excited for Citcon and what it would reveal...Seemingly, my reply of..."Meh, I'll be playing RDR2 on my PC by then and probably won't even see the return of the sandworm." Wasn't the required answer.

It really upset some of the little server snowflakes, who also thought the counter of... "I suppose you'll also be playing that built for console lame Cyberpunk rubbish next year as well then? Lol." Would somehow be a good comeback (it wasn't)... then came the hurling of abuse, calling me a Derek Smart goon wannabe, how SC would simply outclass RDR2 and Cyberpunk since it wasn't a console game...and SC was made in America and not some foreign sh**...

Did I somehow manage to log in to one of the US servers by mistake?

These folk were pretty speshul, even in the Star Citizen world...I suggested they should get out more...meet some real people who didn't play Star Citizen...
One of Us! One of Us!... :devilish:

Quite strange really. I had assumed the crazies didn't actually play the game, they just spent all their time on the forums.

Also LOL at the made in America bit (except for the parts being made in the UK and Germany). You should have asked them where they thought their mobile phones and computers were made.

The current economic and political platform is simply full of lulz.

I'll just wait to answer the call. Buy an Idris!

Actually - that wasn't quite the video I intended :(

That's really the only reason why SC can't tap into the lucrative console market: it would never ever pass cert for even the shoddiest knock-off. :p

e: Granted, considering their previous business schemes ventures and accomplices partners, to say nothing of the shared necessary characteristics of their customer base, it would seem a pretty fitting end: Star Citizen — only available on POP Station.

I dont know, I bought Borderlands 3 last month and that game was so horribly unoptimized that it ran worse then Star Citizen. I even read reports about hard crashes on consoles and them having all kinds of performance issues. So either console accepting is based on the source (Gearbox had a good rep) or the various consoles dont quality test either in which case SC stands a good chance to "slip in".

This week I've been playing The Witcher 3 on the Switch, of all things. Amazing what a developer can achieve when they understand how to make complex, fun, functional games.
And it's pretty much inevitable that there'll be a console version of Squadron 42.

First it needs to release before it can be ported to consoles or do XBox and others accept alphas now?

Hey! I play Fortnite.

The real Fortnite though, not that annoying battle royale spin off.

Wot? What do you mean? There is no other Fortnite then the BR :)
yeah I know, the original base game which I was waiting for before Epic ran after the money instead

Quite a few titles are released on Xbox and then ported to PC these days...AC Origins for one strangely enough. Xbox does have some early access stuff...Elite Dangerous comes to mind since that's where I started off on my journey with ED...Xbox GPP in 2015 ;)

Yeah, the one people actually paid money for.

Now, imagine if CIG in the end screwed the original backers to make a Battle Royale game and released it for free :D

But but... I thought consoles couldn't cope with so much fysicallized phidelity? I thought it was "A PC GAEM"? How do they plan to put these on a pad?

Elite, NMS and countless third/first person shooters have managed it. Probably the main limitation (other than CIG's woeful UX skills) would be the size of the installation. You don't get much game for the amount of data that it's currently using, so who knows how big a release version would be.

As for quality control on consoles, check out Jim Sterling's (sweary) reviews of "games" like Life of Black Tiger and Flowers Are Dead to see how low the bar is.

You don't need keyboard for NMS or X Rebirth VR, both work 100% with Oculus touch. Just need to make everything clickable on screen or VR
