The Star Citizen Thread V10

That's a thing of beauty!

The simplicity, the elegance, the understatement - and when he/she passes out at Barcitizen there's plenty of room on the back to scrawl "Buy an Idris!"

I couldn't find anything about early testing, but there is this from the Kickstarter campaign:
  • Virtual Reality is here!
We have backed Oculus Rift and will support it in Star Citizen / Squadron 42. Who doesn't want to sit in their cockpit, hands on your joystick and throttle, swiveling your head, to track that enemy fighter that just blew by?

Even if it's going to be "layered in" after the release of Star Citizen, who wouldn't want a VR version of Squadron 42?

That's a lovely jpeg - all those Commando's enjoying the limelight and the salute emote!

Now - what would happen if some high-ups wanted to do a combined arms Org maneuver and plonk a couple of Idrises right on top of them? :D

Well, if CR came out and said SQ42 didn't need VR, then i'm sure some backers would proclaim that CR is a visionary and VR is only a gimmick and not required.

I'm not certain about all the backer tiers, but i do know they promised to release SQ42 as a complete product, whether to early backers or not.
I would have never been a backer, if I hadn't been baited and switched.

They also spent many years being paranoid about revealing spoilers, only them to release a 1 hour walkthrough (which to be fair, didn't show much of anything except walking around and a bit of flight), and in the meantime, the whole plot was leaked,
I remember all the excuses made up later, but there was no talk about "spoilers" in 2012. In fact the "walkthrough" with all the talk about the super secret story was late 2015 (a whole three years after the fact), the exact time when I got my refund, because "Star Citizen" (the one from the Kickstarter) was missing and Port Olisar was not what I signed up for.

But no reason to bother with Star Citizen revisionism. The post-mortem documentaries will cover all this in great detail.

I find it funny how some backers are willing to totally misrepresent the game in order to big it up. Who needs a marketing department with backers like these?
Most of these "backers" are simply fake. It's called "reputation management". You pay your bill, then get tens of thousands of Facebook likes, Reddit upvotes, fake posts like these and any other pseudo-positive stuff you want for your company.

The echo chamber where this comes from is under direct control of CI!G employees. It's not even worth copying material to this thread.

Hells bells, i hope they are not paying these people, they are terrible at their job.

It's likely that the faked ("edited") screenshot comes out of CI!G itself. Usually only the distribution of "viral marketing" is outsourced, while the material is produced and vetted by company itself. I don't know if they pay these people. ;)

I think with Cyberpunk and Starfield in the pipeline it’s going to show what a Modern AAA title should look like. And if ED can deliver what I hope they’re working on it will put an end to CR’s madness.
Weirdly I think i’ll quite miss it.

My very first thought was "tech demo confirmed, this is what they should ve had end of 2012/early 2013.

Anyway, the comment section is going overboard with hype but also trench war erruptions. What are the colorful energy swirls around some buildings? Didnt watch to the end but I dont think theres anything happening there.

Public question.....how much do you think CI-G will add to this area within the next 12 months? Or improve it enough so it runs like the racing module? I get the "flying slow because majestic" but imagine a quick swoop through this all....already feels like going through quicksand

I watched this on mobile so I'm sure I'm missing all the fidelityz, but it feels disembodied with no sensation of flight (especially when you mute the sound).

Every SC flying video I have watched has always looked this way to me. It just seems like the ship is superimposed onto a background scene.
The devils in the detail with game development. In the far future when all the elements are in place to give the appearance of a functioning game their job will have only just started. It doesn’t seem very likely they will have enough time to get to that point.
