Someone kindly provided the paarp video I was thinking of: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CXJZbPI5nKE#t=39s

…and this, while we're at it :D

Some more parrrp for anyone that cares to take a look.

https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=s...ypDSAhWH0hoKHTxRDvsQ_AUICigD&biw=1920&bih=957

Has anyone been able to find any mention in public by Oldman of SC since he recorded the famous speech that led to the parp?

He seems to have gone strangely quiet.

I know there were rumours he's bailed but they were of course just rumours..

No, thats handcrafted AFAIK. Custom hi-res textures to mocap skulls.

But there's a little thing top right that said 99.3 rpms - sorry fps.

Surely that means it's in game!!

Paarp is also a running gag through Major Tom's stories of flying around in space with suit's jets venting despite being without a space suit on.

Ha those Paaaarp gifs are great...there was a really funny one of the shower scene from Alien 3 with Oldman as the alien. Wee'd myself laughing at that one a few months ago.

And this insight from The Agent at SA.

development so open no one can:

agree when development started

agree on a release date

agree what features were promised

agree how basic gameplay features operate

agree what certain ships will look like

agree how many players the mmo portion will support

agree what company is in charge of what feature

agree how many employees there are

agree how many backers there are

agree if a pledge is a pre-order

agree how much money has been spent

Interesting take on that rumour from EightAces over at Derek Smart's place.

This is insightful. Importantly,

It’s not what detractors see; it’s what other people see outside the Star Citizen group. Good point is if any normal, rational human being looked at /r/dereksmart, outside of CIG / Star Citizen Universe, what would they think about Star Citizen? If anything Derek should put /r/dereksmart on his payroll as they’ve done more to promote the idea of Star Citizen as a cult, hate group, Star Citizen as an ineffective product than anything Derek Smart could ever say. This also expands to /r/starcitizen, Chris Roberts official response to The Escapist Article and even the CIG forums. Basically Derek Smart baits them into lashing out and recording / reporting his views.

As an outsider, my initial take on CIG and Star Citizen was very different – that was as a potential employee. It was only until viewing /r/dereksmart that I reached out to Derek Smart’s forums in the first place. What I’ll be interested in and some backers should watch, is if this post ends up on /r/dereksmart or not, bearing in mind it has not been written by Derek Smart and only relates to Star Citizen / CIG, although I am seen as a detractor of Star Citizen / CIG / Chris Roberts.

This guy comes across as a former potential employee of CIG? Is that right?

It occurred to me that if you reframe SC as an ARG (alternate reality game), then CIG has already delivered a fully operational experience that is kind of giving value for money; people are getting caught up, joining tribes, skin in the game, scouring the internet for clues, drama is everywhere, defectors abound, risky gambles, villains and heros, rabbit holes, hopes and fears, it's quite the ride!

It's obviously a big unfortunate problem that people signed up for a very different genre of game, but still, in terms of the "attention economy" the game has absorbed a lot of time from players :)

That's possibly a tinsy bit harsh.

He could simply be so incompetent that he really doesn't know, and the fact that CIG only seemed to realise they needed a plan for 3.0 at the end of the month CR routinely gave for 'delivery' doesn't suggest a high level of competence.

Or he could just be fully delusional and so really believes his own narrative.

I'm not saying these alternatives are much more palatable, but.....

Still, as a cheery aside, didn't they say that after a January spent planning they'd have a firm date for 3.0, or is this another one of their mutable deliveries?

Yeah, it's probably harsh, but when trusted sources (as I wrote back then) tell me that they had no clue 3.0 even existed, until he actually announced it - in a slide - I believe them. And that's lying.

Plus, they were right, weren't they?

Also, 3.0 was being touted as far back as April 2016. So how it is that in Aug 2016, he announced that the "goal" was to get it out "before Dec 19th, 2016", but somehow, they released 2.6; and now six months later, we're looking at 2.6.1 and yet another 2.6.x patch to follow. Which, assuming 3.0 now exists - and will follow 2.6.2 - is looking like a Q3/17 (at best) or Q4/17 (at worst) release.

Are you seriously of the opinion that he didn't know - at the time - that 3.0 was over six months away? Even as his own devs have since been making statements about stuff that was supposed to have already been done for 3.0? I refuse to believe that he's that clueless. Especially when you have guys like Tony Z, Todd Pappy, Erin, and Sean Tracy in the mix. Someone had to know; and my guess is they all knew he was making stuff up and lying in order to keep raising funds. And he did - to the tune of over $5m.

The Valentine's Day sales... man, people buying into that deserve what they get

it's a bust, compared to previous years. That's what happens when the lies catch up to you.

Yeah, he was. And he knows people who still work there (F42-UK); as well as some who have long gone.

So, about that sale.

https://robertsspaceindustries.com/...15707-V-Day-Sale-Love-Is-In-The-Air-and-Space

Thinking about getting serious? Nothing says ‘I care’ like the rugged Aegis Vanguard deep space fighter, a favorite among long range mercenary pilots and well-armed explorers alike. With firepower and the ability to get you and your co-pilot out of the most dangerous situations, the twin-boom Vanguard design is a favorite from Earth to the frontier.

By popular request, we are also making available the Battlefield Upgrade Kits (BUKs) for the Vanguard line, which allow captains to swap between variants on a single chassis. Please note that these upgrades are not available in the current alpha build of Star Citizen; their functionality will be added in a future patch.

Many thanks... I see. :)

Oh man... more concept art, wow.
In the while, another game just shown off half of half of the next update.... ah whatever.
We all saw that. Thrilled.

An given this is Frontier we are talking about, I bet there will be way more in the actual release than what they show or tell us before release.
