Just out of curiosity, what's the deal with refunds? I know originally the TOS included a explicit refund agreement, that a few people out west got the ftc on CR's butt and got a refund, but my understanding was that the new TOS explicitly says no refunds.. I have zero insights into this, just curious-- is CIG honoring refunds, or are you in for a fight?

It makes a bit more long-winded. But most of the packages are basically a pre-order, and therefore a purchase: CIG can say whatever they like in thier TOS, it doesn't affect consumer law.

As far as I understand the new TOS applies to purchases since the TOS change (June 10th 2016 I believe), but it is not retroactive. I can not speak for refunds put in for purchases following the latets TOS change, and I would assume there are not many of those yet given the latest TOS change is relatively recent anyways.

As for refunds put in under old TOS versions (i.e. for purchases before June 10th 2016) all you need really is to send an e-mail to CIG customer support with your account details, from your account registered e-mail address. From what I have seen so far it is relatively easy and trouble free these days to obtain the refund, as long as one is prepared to insist and have a a few several back and forth e-mails with CIG customer support. Can´t say if this will change going forward or not.

You are cancelling a pre-order.

Do I need to load the Extended Memory Manager from my autoexec.bat too?

Jesus, that just brought me back....wasn't there a corresponding mem driver in config.sys that had to be loaded?

I remember when I finally got 1 meg of ram in my old ibm 5150, and thought I was the sheat... but had to go through all those convoluted memory managers to be able to use it.

I think this year with 3.0 alone, will be the biggest delivery SC has ever done, stuff years in the works. They take the long path because they are willing to prototype and rewrite as they go, but what matters is that manage to do it right even if it's set to be by trial and error.

Doing it right (by trial and error, prototyping and rewriting).... :D

Lol so many bugs and they haven't even got to the hardest parts yet like economy (including trading and mining), multi systems and their navigation mechanics, living and believable AI (from every single npc to their ships and to the large entities like factions), background simulation systems (missions, inter and extra entities interactions and their states)...

I won't be surprised that if they somehow managed to make those systems work AND together they would be met with like 1 million bugs at a time.

Well, if the 2.6.2 patch is anything to go by, backers are in for a jolly bumpy ride going forward because last I checked, the much touted 3.0 "Jesus Patch" was still very much out of reach. As it has been since Summer 2016.

The next schedule they post is going to be all kinds of hilarious.

It's kind of pointless to utter here, but my April deadline has been crossed and I've put in for a full refund.

This game is so far off the tracks and they can't even be honest about the fact. Understandable because funding is still super critical, but that puts what I loved about the company in the beginning in a compromised position.

It's been like that for awhile but CR's 3.0 b.s triggered a hard deadline for me. I believed at the time it was hot air and said to myself come April and without real progress toward that goal I'm out.

So I'm out.

Not that I had a lot of activity here, I did enjoy the discussion. I also found the satirical sense of humour quite amusing but the sharpness of the arguments as to the naked perception of the game and the state of it...has been point.

I won't have much reason to stick around other than to check in now and then. But just wanted to say my "farewell" and hoping you guys continue to be critically fair ... who knows, maybe one day they will release a decent game, but I'm done caring at this point.

That money is worth about 32% more now based on the USD to CND do not going to bat an eye at that.

Turns out CIG are a bank...I'll be sure to leave a tip before I walk.

Seriously though, good luck on both sides of the fence.

Yes, I broke the news and wrote a blog shortly thereafter. http://dereksmart.com/2017/03/star-citizen-money-laundromat/

You CAN get a refund - regardless of when you bought/pledged. The ToS (all versions) is largely irrelevant, inconsequential, and legally unenforceable. That's why, when someone tested it, and I wrote about it, refunds started being a thing.

And don't forget to change your Sound Blaster IRQ to 5 in the SBPCI.ini file.

Amateurs. Get a copy of Quarterdeck's EMM386 memory expander. Problem solved.

Jeeze.. lol.. remember those days?
And setting up drivers for CD drives--- when they came out :)

FWIW, for kicks and giggles, I downloaded the full wing commander series from GOG. Plays quite well on modern machines. Those were some good games:))

So, CIG *sure* showed that pesky nuisance TheAgent what for by releasing the 2.6.2 patch before April arrived (even though the patch was supposed to be playable on the 23rd of March).

Yep, they *proved* that his "leaks" were nothing but hot air and petty guesswork, purely designed to try and mock the righteous and virtuous work that The One Roberts has so painstakingly laboured at for all these nanoseconds months!

With this monumental task achieved, Star Citizen's soon-to-be future success is assured and all routes leads to a bright and glorious full release of the Best Damned Game Ever in the history of.....

I have an idea that just might help Chris Robber and his merry band.

Instead of making videos of one guy fixing the bugs. Why don't they video the guy MAKING the bugs. Then they can fire him.
And then, when the first guy has finished fixing the remaining bugs, they can fire him too, saving loads of backers money.

They should hire me. I am wasting my life here.

Why don't they hire a publisher to fire Roberts...oh wait.
