Amazing begging there in that letter. I don't think we've seen the last of this nor the depth of shameless begging that he'll be capable of.

Out of interest is the begging working? Any major spikes of Idris completionist packages being seen?

Nope. I was going to help out by picking up a Completionist this weekend; but I am holding off because this part of the newsletter rubbed me the wrong way with its blatant begging.

You don’t have to do anything more than this. You don’t need to buy additional ships, or subscribe. You’ve done as much as we could ask or want.

But if you like our ambition and want to support further, if you think it is a worthy cause, if you want to make sure that all the features we are working on are given the time to be built right, then contribute how you feel comfortable. There are multiple ways to support, like submitting bug reports on the Issue Council or telling your friends about the game. The perks or rewards for people who go the extra mile are just that; us saying thank you for allowing us to build a game for all of you that could never be attempted in any other model. Additional contributions are about making the game better rather than gaining a personal advantage down the road. And that is why no matter what your level of support you should be happy if someone else goes above and beyond. After all, they are helping make the game better for EVERYONE.

Do you think they would welcome you back if you bought the completionist package? :D
I reckon they would.
I wonder what would CR write in his letter then.
"Mr. Smart and I had some disagreements in the past, but those are behind us now..."

Since I'm knee-deep in salt on other threads, I must ask:
Any plans from CIG for "Pin the railgun on Salomé" type events?

Looking forward to the release of planetary landings, any which way.

That's my buy-in requirement, at the lowest rung. Just want to have a play around with that tech. Is the cheapest still $54 for an Aurora?

Whatever lets me get down there and drive about a bit really. I'm easy! :)

Heh. Is there an Aurora "I bought one just to keep tabs on what all of the fuss is about" Owners Club? 'Cus count me in. :)

I think so, but they have so many "free fly" events you might as well wait and try out the tech for free. Takes a couple of hours to download the game, by the way.

Top answer is so… so… oh my. Even the ones who are actively being mean to CIG are just unrealistic about the support the game has.

Single player games. (Just 1 million sales a year is $60 million. With the engine built and cycling assets between the single player and MMO, it should be easy to publish a new one every other year at least.)
Why on earth would a million people buy SC every year? They don't even have that many 6 years into the project. And 6 years in, it's pretty clear that they are not a company that can publish anything new every other year — the guy at the top does not believe in recycling, only redesign.

Optional subscriptions. If even 1 in 100 pay $10 a month, that's $2.4 million a year with current backer numbers.
One in 100… of what? The 6–700k estimated actual backers? So 7k backers a month, at $10 a pop = $840,000 a year. Also known as an abject failure that cannot even support its own hosting costs, never mind any actual development.

To be honest, his comedy option is probably he most realistic for the company and customers in question. :D
